Also my HU has settings for the subwoofer.. Di I put my amp on flat or on LPF ?? Thanks in advance... Right now its facing up, LPF is on the amp , and HU set to 100hz ( +1) Sounds ok .. Theres so many things to figure out gains and levels on an amplifier. I would need to know every item in the chain. Plus, I would need to know approx. voltage levels and box size...

LPF is normally a must, it will help with blending and making your woofer appear to be in front or behind you. It also will cut off the higher pitched frequencies from the driver keeping it playing in its preferred range.

Up or down wont make a huge difference as long as there is enough room between the floor/seat and the woofer. Try them both and see what you like better.

I wouldnt be surprised if some of the rattle came from lifting the seat...

Thanks Red .. I was trying to get out cheap using what I already had.. that was my first problem .. I also found the rattle, Its coming from the rear window.. I have the sliding center rear window..
I have been real modest with the gains on my amps , 240 se coustic ,Rated Power @ 14.4 V (0.2 % THD): 1 x 240 Watts.. Gain is set at 1/2 way, then bass boost is set at 1/2 way and also the Freq is set to aroubd 100hz.. Input Sensitivity 2.2 volts.,S/N Ratio @ rated power: 100db. It says use number 8 wire but I have run Number 4 guage wire From the battery to a block and the used number 8 going to this amp as well as the pioneer amp.. Now for the pioneer amp that ar hooked to the tweeters and the front sony speakers.. Pioneer GM-X332 ,RMS Power at 4 Ohms 35 W x 2 ,Signal to Noise Ratio 103 dB ... Gain set a little over half way , bass boost all the way down ,, set on flat , Input signal 2.2 volts.. Requires at least 10 guage wire but I am running 8 guage.. Now for the junky subwoofer in a slanted box measuring top depth of 4 inches, bottom depth of 8 inches, Dimensions Constructed with High Quality 3/4" MDF Wood
Enclosure Volume is .7 Cubic Feet
Height 15.25" x Length 19.25" x Top Depth 7.25" x Bottom Depth 8.25"
Speaker Mounting Depth is 6.25"
Right now I have a DUAL sub mounted and siliconed in the box under the seat firing up.. Specs on the sub are Size

10"

Frequency Response:
30Hz - 125Hz
RMS Power:
125 watts
MAX Power:
375 watts
Sensitivity:
87dB
Nominal Impedance:
4 ohms

I believe where I am lacking clarity is my sub sux... and I have no amp on my rear door speakers.. I am thinking about adding the fast and furious amp to the rear speakers...(They are Sony's 3 way 6x8 just like the front speakers ) and definitly buy a new sub .. I have been looking at the shallow mount pioneer subs..
Specs on the fast and furious amp are :• Maximum Power: 450 watts
• Power Rating: 50w x 2 @ 4ohms
75w x 2 @ 2ohms
150w x 1 @ 4ohms
• Input Sensitivity: 150mV - 4V
• High Level Input: 1.5V - 14V
• Signal to Noise Ratio: > 90dBA
• Channel Separation: 50dB
• Crossover: High/Low/All Pass switch
• Crossover Type: Variable 40~400Hz
• Amplifier Fuse Value: 25Amp (1)

And the Specs on my(4) 6x8's Sonys are :Top Mount Depth: 2 5/16 Inches
Bottom Mount Depth: 2 5/16 Inches
Sensitivity: 91 dB
RMS Power Range : 2-55 Watts
Peak Power Handling: 240 Watts
Impedance: 4 Ohm
Frequency response: 25-33000 Hz

Thats about it ..
I am planning on going to circuit city in our town , I was told they started carrying the 10 inch shallow pioneer sub which I believe will be alot more nice than the dual sub .. I also need to do some wiring work and clean up my install big time... Thanks for any help and feel free to comment where you think I can improve.. Thanks

Well, I will never hate on the Dual subs.... I bought the two Red Dual 10's in a bandpass box before I knew anything. They hit pretty good for then. And I have yet to ever kill them whether it be off my 500/1 or off of many other amps... (Still have them)

Your gains are actually rather high on the subs for using the bass boost. You probably clip the sub whenever you turn it up a decent bit. Do you have the spk bridged?

The best way to really start your system is to slowly build using quality products. I like to put a certain amt of money from each check into my "audio acct". Spend it when I have enough.

Do some research and read what has been posted for the last while, then get a good idea about good products and slowly build. But be careful as you will get addicted.

Thanks for the help .. I appreciate it.. I think I am going to live with the stuff I got .. I found out that the sub box was leaking a little air.. I fixed the problem .. It sounds pretty good.. Now on to a few other mods.. I may go ahead and get the right sub enclosure for my truck from supercrew sound and get a decent shallow sub but thats about it... I am looking at having to put tires on my truck in the next month or 2.. I got the 17 inch rims... So the tires will be at least 500 to 700 dollars.. Well I can honestly say I have learned alot more about amps and subs and such .. Thanks Yall..

I have been in the process of building a sealed box .. What I have now is a slanted box , with about .7 cubic feet of air space , a 10inch dual sub that is about gone , I think it is from sitting up 5 months in my old truck and getting damp.. I went to the hardware store and bought some 2 inch long 1/2 inch pipe nipples and some 2 1/2 inch long 10mm 1.50 pitch metric bolts and soe flat washers and raised the seat .. They also sale a box on ebay for the supercrew trucks for about 109.00 some say raise the seat and some say you dont have to .. I will try to get a few pics today of what I got going on ..

Here is a good box calc.. If you build your own box .. also it will help you choose the right sub..

Just wanted to say also a friend of mine , his son has a crew cab f350 he has a cylinder box under his seat and it sounds pretty good.. He bought a concrete post form made of heavy cardboard and fiberglassed it.. I just cant decide.. Also I have to say , as well as my friends son said .. Man my coustic amp is unreal... We hooked up the coustic amp bridged to an older 15 inch sub rated at 300 watts rms and the coustic amp almost burnt the voice coil up in it... What gives ... Anyhow I got to get my butt to work so I can pay rent and such first then back to the truck mods....

It was either clipping like hell or playing below port frequency
