Left speaker doesn't work

I have a 1981 150 Ranger, and the left (driver's side) door speaker does not work. The right passenger side works though. The radio is the standard AM/FM 8 track radio. Why do you think the driver's side speaker does not work?

Ah. come on guys. Yeah, she is old,but still runs and goes down the road just fine. Albeit the gas mileage is not good, but she can haul a lot of tonage. I just need to know what could be wrong with the left speaker not working. If you don't know the answer, then shut the **** up.

First of all, be careful what you say. Because you do run the risk of offending those who will help. I understand you are trying to filter some crap.

Second, you are asking us to diagnose a spk out after its been in use for over 25 years WITH NO INFORMATION other than the year... That truck is older than many members on this forum.

Third, how can you tell me the deck is 100% functional? A deck that old doesnt even have a 12v+ constant wire.

Guess we all are just going to **** now. Because noone knows. Thanks for the helpful info to figure the problem out.

I'll have to agree with Low e Red on this one. You need to give more info and besides, like the others have stated, the radio is old. The radio could be bad or the speaker is bad.

Dang I was 15 years old in 1981.. Anyhow my guess is the speaker.. The door sills probably got dry rotted and water leaked in and did the damage.. My Uncle had a 1976 F-100 ( 302 v8 ) ( 3 on the column ) His Right speaker buzzed for weeks until I replaced it with a set of 5 1/4 Jensen's.. I also replaced the window / door sill..

Like others have said---more info would be helpful. Perhaps after 27-28 years or so the HU has gone bad. Perhaps the wiring is bad...or the speaker itself just rotted away. I would take off the interior door and check the speaker---hook up a speaker that you know that works and then work back from there.
