Talking Subs on back panel behind seat

I have 2 10 inch subs in shallow boxes that came out of my single cab ford f150.. I was thinking about putting them behind the rear seat in my crew cab fx4.. I thought about using my dremel and cutting out the plastic panel in the back where the jack is and mounting it there.. Has anyone done this or should I just mount it under the seat.. Also how does my back seat work ? It appears to be hinged on the front.. Anyway today I am removing the CD6 unit today and installing the DEH2900MP Pioneer HU.. SO this will be m day today.

That would sound terrible.....way too flimsy and not air tight. You'd have so many rattles, flutters, air leaks, etc...... Definitely don't even try that route.

Hes not talking about using the back plastic panel as a box. If you read his post the first sentence mentions "Shallow Boxes".
OP - Yes, people have done that very often to gain more space and it will sound fine. Id go for it, since it would save you the trouble and money of buying a new under-seat box.

I have seen subs behind the seats in those. But they were still in boxes.

... I put my new sonys in the doors .. Not real happy but they sound better and they are 3 way .. I put my pioneer HU in .. The sub boxes will not fit behind the seats. Oh well.. I mounted 1 sub box firing down under the seat .. I only have about 2 inches between sub and floor.. It souds Ok but its a little baffled and boomy sounding.. I think I need to lift the seat a little bit.. Wonder how many inches I need from sub to floor in an enclosed box for a 10 inch sub ??? HMMMM... By the way my DEH2900MP Pioneer sounds way better than the audiophile CD6..

I cant believe I am still awake ... I stayed in the shop almost all night. I built a under the rear seat box , ( copied a box I saw on the internet... Now I just got to do the fiberglass resin... It took six hours to build..I will post some pics soon.. I am trying to decide if I should hook the front speakers up to my other amp... for the sub amp I have a coustic mono 160 watt (older) and for the front speakers I have a 100 watt ( 40x2) rms Pioneer amp or a Fast and Furious amp 150.2 ( actually 35wx2) cant decide which one , I think the pioneer is a little better.

After much measuring I think I am going to have to lift the rear seat ( 60/40 split) by 2 1/2 inches... Basically longer bolts and spacers..

We are going a different route..Back to the under the seat sub,, my sub requires .55 for good sound and for best bass response .75 So now i am looking at having to raise the seat about 2 inches..I need about 3 inches from floor to sub, so say precision audio..So today we make the spacers for the rear seat.. The box I am working on now should be
.75 ( sealed enclosure ) I also have a thought about moving the rear seat foward and putting both of my 10" subs behind th seat but there will be alot of drilling to do.. I am also going to try to save enough this week to get the dvd/nav pioneer unit. I hope..
