another dumb questions from a newbie....

I have a 04 lariat and want to put a few subs in. I have been looking on this site and others for days on how to go about hooking them up with the least amount of effort. ericd has a great thread about tying into your stock harness, but i cant find the damn thing. i looked on a few forums and they say its under the drivers side seat under the carpet somewhere...so i have take the seat out and dig around in the carpet?? and if so, can i use that harness as the input for my subs and just use my monster cable for the power? not sure how these trucks are, i just know that this is my first and i LOVE IT!! any help would be appreciated.. thanks guys

Just pop the speaker panels off and look at the wires used on the speakers. You can tap in there and just route the wires through the rubber duct and to the amps high level inputs. A load easier than trying to pull the harness apart and trying to figure out which wire to use.

you'll take a good length of light gauge speaker wire and tap that into the factory speaker wires. Route that to your amp and hook them up. Since you don't have the factory sub you'll want to connect into both the front left and front right speakers.

Best way to tap into the wires is to strip off about 1/2" of the insulation and split the conductors apart enough to slip the speaker wire between the wires then wrap it around the factory wire. Use black electrical tape and some zip ties to re-insulate the speaker wires.

im using 4 gauge wire and running it thru the hole in the firewall where the gas pedal is... now i was wondering if the head from the motor being 3 inchs away from that hole is going to destroy the wire while im driving.... thanks
