Few ideas....

So great things come by the dozen....

Well due to the recent theft, I will be coming across roughly 4-5k in pocket. But I will be dropped from the truck. So my new car is a 00 Silver LN Continental (its cheap on insurance, better mileage and I keep a V8). I also drive 25 miles to work everyday now.

So im trying to decide what to do:
I already have a deck for it Pioneer DEH-P880PRS
  1. Go all SPL and build a setup with 1-2 18's and a few SSA amps.
  2. Go all SQ
  3. Go Wild in the house and drop 2K all Polk *Ti series (I still get nice discounts)
  4. Stay mild in the car and add a DDin relocate the AC controls
  5. Bag the truck and wait a couple years till I can really afford to drive it (Truck is paid off...)
  6. Yall's ideas

SPL if you want people to know your comin.

only problem i would have with 2 18s is that im a big sound quality guy, and if i cant get a good sound out of it i would go nuts. can you still get decent sound out of a system that is meant for being incredibly loud?

Id order D2's and put the coils on a relay, so I could switch between 4 ohms and 1 ohm depending on my mood.

Whatever the hell you want to do with it, its your truck

It sucks that you got jacked, I would be raging pissed if that happened to me, but you get to start with a fresh pallet to do whatever you always wanted to do.

BAG THE TRUCK, hands down. $$ for a system will be more readily available than the $ to bag a truck ever will. do it!

Ok, do a badass SQL setup, with one or two larger woofers (15s or 18s) that will make it hard to breathe, but wont miss a beat.

Its not hard to take a huge *** woofer in a big ported box off 2500wrms and be loud....while also being a one note wonder fart machine. Unless you plan to compete, dont do an SPL setup or I will haunt you with gooey SQ goodness and make you cry for going the SPL route.

So, do a nice SQ oriented setup that will Fn get loud too. Good separates for the front stage running off 300 watts a side or something, with one or two SQ oriented woofers sealed off 2kwatts or so that will still get loud........make the SPL guys jaw's drop with how loud your SQ based setup is.

Best of both worlds. Having an amazing sounding setup is a lot more impressive to me, and many other people, than something that sounds "ok" but will get loud as hell.
I want to hear MUSIC from a stereo, not just loud noises!

Hows that.

Thats a response.

Bartak - What drivers would you have in mind for that....? (I know, I know Low_e_Red w/o an answer)

Fdime - Im really debating it, because Ive never had a bagged truck before. Got close, but never done it.
