Build log summary

Figured I'd post this here, had a build log following the progress over on ca.com, here's a summary with some pics. The build started out clean and towards the end I was just slappin stuff in as fast as possible to catch a competition today, unfortunately I missed it by just a few hours. Build is for daily and the occasional bassrace comp. Things will be cleaned up as time goes on:

Kenwood DDX812 (w/sirius/ipod hookup/etc)
Boston Pro 60's
Boston Type-M imaging kit (not installed yet)
AQ HDC318
AQ 2200
Kicker 550.2 for the 60's and imaging kit
Epicenter (not installed yet)
Knu Krystal RCA's
~45ft of Knu Fleks 1/0
2 bulk packs of dynamat
~30ft of SS Damp pro
2 sheets of SS overkill pro (Doors if it fits)
2 sheets of SS luxory liner pro (back wall)
BJfisher box - 5.75 @ 38 with 92sq in of port
Mean Green 200amp alt
Yellowtop front, two powersonic batts in the back (HC600 clones)
Custom metal frame in the extended cab boarded up and carpeted

Deadening on the outside doorskin:

Door deadened in and out with a layer of secondskin overkill pro on top. I'd suggest using the regular overkill instead of the pro, it was a pita to get the door panel back on:

When your really white you shouldn't stand outside in sandals all day deadening a truck without sunscreen:

Tweet and Mid in each door:

While working on the truck a bird decided to fly over and crap on my sill plate....stupid bird!

Had some leftover overkill pro so it got rammed in every orifice in the back:

Backwall all shiny with 1 to 2 layers of mat on it:

And last a layer of overkill on the backwall, if the overkill works 1/2 as good as it looks it will be awesome. Really like applying the stuff, before the foil tape on the seems it almost looked to good to cover up:

From outside the truck:

Well thats all the pics I have, shoulda took more along the way but got busy and didn't stop to grab the cam. Unfortunately I missed the comp today so no numbers on it.

The setup gets downright loud, the boston tweets are a little harsh but after some tweaking hopefully that will help. Only deadened the front doors and backwall and it is suprisingly quiet outside for 200+w per door on the mids and 2200w on the sub. Its also nice and quiet inside cruising on the highway now. Have to admit the truck was pretty quiet inside from the factory though. I will be doing the rear doors in the next week or two. The deadening was well worth the effort.

Lookin good. You def. got a lot of space back there without that seat in there.

Looking to hit a certian number, or just do whatever you can do?

Oh yeah, its amazing the space you get when you take out the backseat. Luckily for bassrace you don't have to be loud, I'll be shooting for the 139.9 class. Hopefully it will do low 40's on music. Wish I would have gotten this done a few hours earlier, then I could have got on a mic at the show today.

I have another hdc3 motor in the garage, toying with adding another 18 just for shows. The single 18 is more than enough to give me a headache in short time. I'm getting older though so the "if its too loud your too old" thing must be true

Well I change stuff too often...old sub is already torn out and my new sub just showed up, Incriminator Audio's new 21" death penalty

Here it is by a dayton ref 8 for comparison...the thing is ridiculously big:

DId you mount the mid straight to that adapter plate, or did you put some foam/cardboard/deadener between it? Sometimes those things can rattle if its mounted straight to it.

I'm only going to be giving it about 2000w. Probably won't be any louder than my last setup, but it will look good for shows.

Supposedly the smaller versions of the DP aren't supposed to sound tpo bad, no reviews on the 21 yet though. Pretty obvious with my last sub choice though, not too worried about how it sounds.

There is some gasketing foam between the mid and the mounting plate. Was done in a hurry though trying to get ready for a show. I will probably be making some mdf baffles for them in the near future.
