HElPPP

ok so i had a 10 inch jl sub and blew it so i bought a 10 alpine type r and running a mono 450 watt alpine amp and alpine iva w205 HU anyways with my old sub i could run it fine to volumes past 20 but now since i dropped in this type r when i put the volume past 20 or so the bass and everything will cut out and it will just play out my speakers . any suggestions as to why it does this ?

also if i turn of my head unit and turn it back on it will run fine again but then after a while cut out .

You prolly have a dual 2 not a dual 4 ohm sub. That and approx volume levels mean absolutely nothing.

Yep, sounds like your amp is going into protect.. Just like Low said- your amp is probly only 2 ohm stable and your runnin at 1 ohm...

Wire the sub in series- and you will get a 2 ohm load..

Look at the documentation that came with your amp/sub. If you don't have it any more go to alpine's site.

Crutchfield has some really good tutorials on speaker impedence and wiring. Worth while reading.

lol thats where google sent me
and i got it fixed now i was runnning at 1 ohm now running at 4 ohm my system is now stable but i do not get out much of my subs potential now.o well i need bigger amp ? or one more sub to run at 2 ohms
