ohms and speakers

redoin my system and don't know which sub to buy.

going with a kicker 750.1 and the specs are . . .

# RMS Power: 750W x 1 @ 2 ohms
# RMS Power: 375W x 1 @ 4 ohms

i want to go with the shallow mount cvt 12's. they come in a 2 ohm and 4 ohm model.

i figure that it really depends on the wiring but which model would i need.

Get the 4 ohm, and wire it in parralel it will drop it to a 2 ohm load. Would be perfect for those subs..

Wiring 2 4ohm drivers in series would give you an 8 ohm load . You would want to wire them in parallel for a 2 ohm load .

I've been pondering this ohm thing myself.

I'd like to do something similar. The 750.1 and one CVT shallow mount. The 2 ohm would be right for me? Right?

If your only buying one sub , buy a dual 4 ohm sub . Wire the coils in parallel for a 2 Ohm load .

For any one wondering about how to wire their dual coil subs, use page 17&18 this link for help. Its an old L7 manual, but the wiring is the same for all dual coils.

12" - The shallow mount looks like it's single voice coil.

Now i'm thinking I should step up to a single L5 or L7 4ohm with either the 750.1 or 1000.1.

How does that sound?:o

If your only using 1 sub , I would recommend getting a 4 Ohm Dual voice coil sub . Wire the coils in parallel for a 2 Ohm load . If you use a 4 Ohm single voice coil sub , your not going to get the full power out of your amp , running it 4 Ohm mono .
