I have 2 10" w3s downfiring in a custom sealed box. I added the LMI LIFT KIT on my 04 supercrew. JL 500-1 is powering it. It sounds good..but not really the bass i was looking for. The lows just dont hit.....wish i woulda gone ported.

ported will make your lows (below tuning freq) even worse

Ported with one 10...like the stealthbox. I listen to hip hop mostly and ported has always sounded better for that type of music....atleast to my ears. Either way thanks for the info.

No, They don't hit the floor, they are angled right in the box, the part of the box that faces the floor is not modified and the w3v3's are not very big, also the linear excursion is not that much so there isn't a problem while the subs are playing either.

As for the loud part, i haven't turned them up all the way, i had a problem with my box and they didn't sound good a loud volumes because of a bad seal and now that they are back in, i have it tuned for a sq setting for rock music where they get loud enough while still complementing my mids and highs, but from what i have heard they seem like the will get pretty loud, also i am running them at 262.5 watts rms, and they can easily take more than that. I will have to get back to you on that, but overall i am very happy with the sound. They have more sq than my eclipse and the lows are very strong, unlike what the other guy said, also they are punchy, when they hit on a rock song they hit very hard. I am extremely happy with the sound but if you are looking for really loud, your best bet would be to lift up that little seat and throw a large box on the floor, or do a center console.

What was wrong with the box. I am thinking of doing the same thing to my 07 crew cab. or i might run the JL stealth box with 1 10'' w3v3 ported. Do you think the 2 ten sealed will be louder then the 1 ten ported.

Thanks

I have never heard the JL stealthbox personally, i have heard extremely good things about it though, but i could not compare the two without hearing both. I am very happy with mine, and From what i know, a ported box will give you deeper bass, and a sealed box will give you more accurate bass, i don't want to start a whole thing about ported and sealed though, everyone has their own opinions and ears. My advice to you would be to get some prices of the 2 10's and the box together with an amp, and then get a price on the stealthbox with an amp and go from there, you wont be disappointed by either one.

Now for the problems with my box. Its just a prefab box, they are all crap! I got mine from musicmooseaudio and an entire side had a gap, i re-sealed the whole thing for what i could but i can't take the box apart to get to some of the other parts that need to be re-sealed. Note: my modifications are not leaking. Since i have had it back in my truck i still notice a leak from somewhere, but im listening for it now... annoying. My plan is to take the entire box, bondo some places where i made modifications and get the entire box sprayed with line-x or rhino-lining. Thats if i don't through away the thing and make some time over like 2 weeks and fiberglass one.

i have a question on your prefab box does it slop down toward the back or is it completely boxed?

Proto, I think weazel is asking if your prefab box is sloped / angled or is it just a rectangle box.
