Subwoofer popping noise?????

OK, I have an 06 XLT and wanted to upgrade to the audiophile with the stock subwoofer, but I didn't have the existing wiring, so I had to make one. I had a "friend" hook it up and it works. The only problem is when I turn the truck on, the sub make a "pop" noise everytime? I know next to nothing about wiring, so if anyone can help me here, I would greatly appreciate it. I did notice that there is one wire coming from the sub harness that is spliced into a wire on the main harness, which I assume is what is causing the problem. (No, I can't go back to that "friend" to have him fix it).

My guess is he wired the audiophile in to the ign wire. This is giving a 12v+ turn on and the ford needs a 5v+. You need to take it to a shop and have them fix this for you.

I was hoping to avoid that. He said when he was hooking it up that he could not get any power to the amp, so he must have taped into that wire to get the power. I don't understand it because it would seem pretty straight foward. Thanks for the feedback.

Low_e_Red is correct. The sub turn on or remote wire is a low voltage wire. They need to install a 1.5k ohm resister inline to knock the voltage down and it will fix the "pop"

does this volt surge hurt the amp or woofer after a period of time? where is a good place to buy the resistor online?
