New HU = new speakers?

I'm a total noob at stereo installs so please be kind. :o

I ordered a Pioneer Avic D3 that I'll be installing as soon as it comes in. The question I have is on the speakers. I don't have a whole lot of money to spend, but do have some. Do I really need to go with aftermarket speakers or are the factory speakers good enough? Also if aftermarket speakers are a must, what are the best bang for the buck speakers to get? My truck is my daily driver and we do most of our family travels in it as well so I'm not looking for something that's going to win any stereo competitions, just something that sounds nice.

Thanks in advance.

I'm fixing to upgrade from my Pioneer speakers, to the alpine type S or type R. Possibly a Polk audio db speaker. Both are under or right at $100 from even the most expensive online stores.

These two speakers were recommended to me by Low_e_Red a audio elder around here, haha. Just don't do what i did, get something too cheap, and be unsatisfied.

Hope I could help

B

If you are not planning on blaring you stereo the stockers should do just fine. However, I'd wait and see how your HU sounds with your stock speakers before buying new ones, no need to spend the money if you dont need to.

x3. If you really get to the point of wanting to upgrade, I'm a huge fan of the component in the front door and a nice three way in the rear doors. Also recommend going with a 6.5" vice the stock 6x8". You would need an adapter plate to make them fit but the sound quality is well worth it.

Aftermarket HU's have alot more tunability and made my stock speakers sound alot better. It sounds sweet now with Alpine type "s" in the rear and type"r" in front. Type S all around is great, the R needs an amp to be at it's peak. Try as mentioned the HU first, might be just fine.
