new system ordered (updated with pics)

alright I have ordered a few pieces of my system already, im putting it together piece by piece and going to attempt the install myself (maybe with a friends help) will be my first install. Im not going for an expensive system system, just something better than what I have.

So far ordered:

Sony XAVW1 here

Kicker CVT 12's here

Will be ordering sometime next week:

Infinity Componets (front doors) here

Infinity Speakers (rear doors) here

Infinity 4 channel Amp here

Kicker Amp for subs (possibility) here

How do u think this set up will work? I know the subs are a little low on airspace, but ill be using polyfill and wont be cranking that loud...only 12's with box I can find for under the rear seat.

I decided on the Sony because it has all the features I would want including GIGA-MP3 (which was a must) looks very OEM, and got good reviews...also a great price. I think this sound system will suit my needs (it better) and the price is on the lower end. Keep in mind, none of these componets were purchased from crutchfield. The subs will be in tommorow, and the headunit just got shipped this morning, so ill keep you updated as the "attempt" to install goes. Any suggestions or comments are welcome.

If your going with that Kicker Amp for the subs, I'd HIGHLY recommend getting it from uBid.com. You'll get the best price by far, AND they're an authorized Kicker dealer so you get the full warranty from the factory.

Here's the amp you're looking for BNIB right now - http://www.ubid.com/Kicker_06ZX850.4...searchone.html

3 weeks ago, I picked up 2 BNIB L710's for $220 and a BNIB ZX1000.1 for $200 - both prices were SHIPPED to my door. They were shipped out quickly and I'm covered with the full factory warranty on both items.

Just throwing that out there...

A few pieces came in today and I also picked up a few things at some local stores/shops:

The box and shallow mount kicker 12's came in...downfiring. Box fits extreamly well, ill take pics of the fit tommorow when I have some light out.

Also got a 1200 watt multi-amp wiring kit w/4 ga. power and split to 8 ga. at the distribution block. Question...should I get another distribution block for my 2 ground wires will be having from my 2 amps so I can ground in one spot? Also got RCA cables, wiring harness, antenna adaptor and dash kit. Also went with the XM Direct sat. radio for the Sony unit (should be here tuesday)

So all i need for right now is the sub amp, which I may shop around a little on what amp to go with (any suggestions?) I need about 400 watts x 2 at 4 OHM ..... I would like to keep costs down, but I dont want to buy crap.

Another question. Should I spend the extra time/money on dynamat or similar product? I really dont feel like ripping out that much of my interior (floor) and from what I hear it can get pretty expensive.

Well all this waiting is making me crazy, cant wait for the rest to get here

edit: im having trouble finding a compatible amp...the boxs the subs came in say they are 4 Ohm subs...single coil. Crutchfield - here - says they are 2 Ohm...so what type of amp do I actually need? A 400 watt x 2 @ 4 Ohm, or a 400 watt x 2 @ 2 Ohm?

Also, can I run my 2 subs off a high powered mono amp? Would this be the best "powerwise" way to feed the subs? If so, will that just split the total RMS wattage of the amp between the 2 subs?

P.S. That UBid is NOT AN AUTHORIZED KICKER DEALER!

I know you don't like online sellers because they take away from B&M sales, but uBid.com IS an authorized Kicker dealer.

Go to www.kicker.com, then click Support > Where To Buy > Internet Sales Partners. On the right you'll see a scrolling list of AUTHORIZED dealers, of which uBid is one.

I can also scan pics of my sales receipts from them that show the products I bought fall under the Kicker factory warranty, if you still don't believe me. I still can't believe how good of a deal I got AND got the full warranty.

Well im mainy waiting on the Headunit to get here before the process begins. I work shift work 7 - 7 and ill be at work all next week, so cant start then. I may be making a special hour and a half trip home to pick it up tuesday and just pop it in, I doubt itll be that time consuming just for the reciever.

Well, i learned that there are both 2 Ohm and 4 Ohm versions of my speaker, I have the 4, so I will pick out my amp sometime today and maybe order if the price is right.

Very true. But I have seen first hand uBid.com get turned down for warranty repairs. It wasnt for KKR but RF i want to say... I dont remember the brand, but I think it was RF.

got around to taking a few pics of the 2 12's box under the seat (box is empty at the moment) fits alright, not in the way, and no seat lift.

Tore apart my dash last night to check the wiring and check the fitting of the dash kit...just bored and getting impatient! Everything fits well, I have 2 harnesses so I dont have to do any splicing....one from factory wiring to universial, and a universial to sony dvd. When I took the factory headunit off, I saw 2 plugs, the larger one that the wiring harness plugs into, and also a smaller one. What i this for? And will I not be using this? If so, I dont have any type of adapters for this.
