thanks again. I just thought of something; I have an old p.o.s. amp in my storage room. Should I try and hook that up to the 5x7's or just use the head unit as I was going to? I know it would be more work and wiring but seems like it may sound better???

Not decided at this point due to lack of research on the differences. I will be searching when I am ready to pull the trigger.

Now as far a "go to" guys first I should define my meaning of "go to". To me is is someone who has accurate first hand knowledge based on experience or facts that is willing to share and help the rest of us who are trying to learn and upgrade based on what is a good fit for me.

I have learned from many people on this board but the ones that seem to respond quickly and accurately not only to me but across the board and give answers that make sense and backed with facts and data are.............

Drum Roll Please

Low_e_Red
Bartak
Styxnpicks - Yes you do have speakers named after you. Suck it Up
Devil Dog 101
kcautosound
6speedcoupe (sp)

There are more but I hope you get the idea.

And I almost forgot one, Anaheim Drew not only with your posts here but also setting me straight when I was looking for a bumper with fog lights.

The Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty is a Digital EQ, processor, and OEM signal interface. It can take a stock signal and turn it in to a clean signal to go into amps, custom tune your sound and setup a full blown Concert-like listening experiance.

I installed it myself, so there was no installation expense. The amp I got is not that great, I plan on replacing it soon, but for what I spent, it is pretty loud with decent SQ, and I didn't break the bank.
Can't you get Alpine Type S speakers off of ebay for about the same price? Or are the kicker speakers the same quality, because I found on ebay a few pairs running for only 70 bucks out the door

Well I pulled my old headunit from the car and saved $350 bucks. Spent $90 for my amp Blaughpunkt 1350 w/ bass remote, and a power acoutstik 10 inch sub shallow mount only 3 inches mounting depth another $90. Infinity referance for the door $119. Wal mart alpine speakers for the rear $60 alpine ipod hookup for $30 bucks. Then I am gonna be buying some infinity kappa tweeters for another $60 bucks. All in all 450 bucks! A complete system for under 500 add another 50 for a custom made by me box for under the rear seat! Still waiting on the sub since its on backorder, but yeah 500 system is possible, and except for the alpine speakers (which actually sound almost as good as the infinity's) all pretty high quality.

Oh yeah Alpine type S on sonicelectronix.com is 59.99 for 10", and 62.99 for the 12" and its a shallow mount which is great for our trucks......if you want to put the sub under the back seat!
