Need Help Picking Parts <-Car Audio Noob

Alright, so I've been looking into just adding a sub to my truck for that extra bit of punch, and I have no clue where to begin.

I've been lurking around the audio forums for awhile and have been considering the JL Audio StealthBox with the 10" 4-ohm W3v3 sub. Any opinions on this unit? I've seen lots of good reviews and comments about it around here and it seems like it's the exact thing I'm looking for.

Here's the link:
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...3694336&tp=113

The other thing, is the other StealthBox on that website really worth the extra 50 bucks for the WV3v2? What are the pros or cons of going with either one?

My other questions are things like do I need a new head unit? If so what kind?
What type of amplifier am I going to be looking for? What are good brand names and what power ratings are best for me?
What do I need for wiring and and mounting etc.?

If you have any suggestions on an amp and a headunit (if I need one) that would be great.

Things I am looking for in the headunit:
iPod hookup
It doesn't matter if it's Double or Single din.
Those single din units with the touch screen that fold out of it are really cool, are they any good?

Also I'm not going to set a price cap but just keep it reasonable since I'm not sure how much this is supposed to run me yet. Just looking for general tips and advice too, before I buy anything though I'm definitely going to gather more knowledge on the subject, and this is where I decided to start.

Thanks in advace

You do not have to have a new head unit. Crutchfield offers an interface so that you can operate the ipod with the stock head unit. If you opt for a new head unit I would suggest the Alpine for Ipod control. The JL sub is nice, however overpriced in my opinion.

Yeah I might look on eBay a bit later, because 500 for a box and sub seems pretty steep to me. I was looking around a little while ago and saw the iPod interface for the stock head unit, doesn't look hard to install at all.

Does anyone have opinions on amps that would suit the StealthBox well?

i just got a box thats real shallow and going to put 2 tens into it... thinking of either the pioneer or the kickers... both have some subs out that are pretty thin... either of them better?
