Thunderform install...what did I do wrong?

Installed my Thunderform tonight, but not getting any sound. (It's the F150C04BK12A-T45. It is the 2004-2008 supercrew enclosure with one 12" sub and amp already installed.) I ran the power and ground properly and know it works because the fuse contact sparked and the amp lights up. Both fuses are still good. Soldered the LR wire (+, grey/lt blue) to the green/black (+) RCA wire, and LR wire (-, brown/yellow) to the green (-) RCA wire. Soldered the RR wire (+, orange/red) to the purple/black (+) RCA wire and the RR wire (-, brown/pink) to the purple (-) RCA wire. I still have sound to my rear speakers, but no sub . The MTX tech said that the sub is getting signal because it lights green. He told me to get an adapter for my IPOD to connect directly, but the light just turns off. IOW, the amp is receiving signal from the door speakers but won't sense it from the IPOD . Is it possible that the amp is not wired directly to the sub? Can I open the enclosure to check it somehow?

I'm frustrated:o

Joe

i suppose you could take the sub out and make sure that its all connected, and one of the most common things i see believe it or not is people forgetting to turn up the gains on the amp, they have them all the way down from the factory

I hear ya...played with the gain/x-over until my fingers hurt

Any advice as to how to test the unit to see if it is functional?

I recieved a powered MTX from Crutchfield and after plugging everything in I had nothing. I checked all connections and settings but got nothing, the power light never even came on. After speaking with Crutchfield tech advisor and trying all they wanted me to try they finally just sent me another one. I installed the new Friday night and it works great.

Hey, This may help a bit. The black stripe is negative.

Reverse your wires with solid being positive and stripe negative. Then see let me know if that helps.

I'll try switching the wires, but they sent a separate bag with RCA cables and had a special note stating a correction to the owner's manual about wire colors and that the RCA cable's black stripe was positive. Won't hurt to try though.

No sound comes out of the sub ever. Not with the radio or ipod. I tried two different adapter cables, but neither worked. The green light turns on only when RCA wires are attached to the amp from the radio, and last night I found that the green light only comes on for the left input. Neither RCA would light green on the right input (if that matters).

I'm still stumped!

Try switching the RCA's. I think it must have been a misprint. Because the industry standard colors are just the opposite.

Boy wouldn't that be great if that was the problem! I'll do it tonight.

BTW, what the heck is the blue wire that is labelled REM? Please tell it is for something I don't need.

REM is the amp turn on. Best if you hook that up.

Good news/bad news

Spoke with an MTX rep...he said their RCA plugs are purposely opposite of industry standard

He also said the blue REM wire is unnecessary to hook up with the amp's "autosmart" feature

He said that everything is connected properly if the green light comes on...but, no sound out is very bad. If upon pulling the sub, I find that the amp and speaker are connected properly, the amp is bad and to send it back.

I guess I'll find out tonight!!!

Now i did catch from your posts that they are signal sensing and therefore not needed BUT it wouldnt hurt to have the rem there.

Purposely opposite....? CAN YOU SAY DEE DEE DEE.

I would still try reversing the spk wires.
