Gotta question for you "SQ" guys...

I'm kickin around an idea in my head for using the little space in between the center console and the dash in my '07 STX. I was thinkin about building a box for an 8" and bandpassing it between 80hz and about 220hz. My question is, what will this do to imaging, if anything? Also, its more of a temporary solution to the lack of bass in my truck till I can get around to building my MOJO 12" box. Any advice?

Personally I wouldnt. Your getting into directional frequecncys and to much into the humans vocal range to just stick something in the middle firing who knows what direction.

I was planning on it firing down, if that matters.

Not really...still wouldnt do it if your really concerned about sound quality, imaging, and your sound stage...

x2.

Or else do what you described above and just low pass it at like 75 Hz if you want bass... (if that 8" whatever will work for subbass)

x10. If you really REALLY wanted to do that. Then get two and make kicks or put in the door. So your midbass is actually working to increase your image not hurt it.

bandpassed around 20-80 would be excellent, but Im unsure of its capabilites. Competitors/Consumers pay big money and tons of processing to get the essence of subs of front, if you could do it, more power to ya. Hence the reason I use 10s in my doors.

The box for the 12" MOJO that I want to build is gonna be hella elaborate and time consuming as it will be almost full fiberglass. I could throw together a box for a single 8" in about 20 minutes. I was just running ideas through my head. Thanks for the input guys.

A friend of mine has a 2005 king cab street boss and he built an upfiring enclosure for an 8" kicker L7. it didnt sound bad, however, the directional and frequency issue might be the determining factor.
