installed stereo, works but something is wrong, no power???

spent the weekend installing two rockford shallow mount 10's, a rockford t500.2 amp, 1/0 wiring, and a db link line out converter.

heres my problem

1) everything technically works, amp has power and i can feel the speakers moving but even at 1/2 -3/4 volume there is NO bass, they are barely moving at all

2) everytime the interior light comes on the subs make noise, even more than when the stereo

i tapped into the LF (org/lt grn and lt blue/wht) and RR (org/red and brwn/pnk) and the lt/grn wire for the remote

my line out convertor has 4 wires for the speakers and two black wires coming out of it but the instructions only show 1 black wire and it says it goes to ground. does that mean ground like chassis ground or ground from the stereo, and what is the second wire for.

it just seems like the signal to the amp isnt strong enough to make any sound

the gains on the amp and the amp remote are on MAX so i know something isnt right, also for some reason the adj outputs on the line out converter have absolutely no effect on anything?

any help

thanks

i had the EXACT same problem when i used a LOC. it is because your speakers are crossed over around 80Hz. You need to tap into the stock amplifier that is connected to the stock sub.

What i did was disconect the stock amp, tap into its wires (had to cut them from the stock sub) and just stick that little stock amp behind my seat, and then i had tons of BASS.

Maybe this will help...

well if you dont have the factory sub, then your speakers shouldn't be crossed-over, in which case i have no clue why your amp wont pick up signal.

check your LOC box, see if it has gain levels on it for the signal you might need to turn that up.

someone else should chime in sooner or later that knows more about this then i do.

just did a little test by plugging in my mp3 player to the rca's by the head unit and got a metric *** ton of bass.

this leads me to believe the problem is either with the line out converter or i tapped into the wrong wires

can anyone confirm whether or not the wires are correct?

These are the radio colors

LF Speaker + -----------orange/lt. green
LF Speaker - ----------- lt. blue/wht

RF Speaker + ----------- white/lt. green
RF Speaker - ----------- dk. green/org

LR Speaker + ----------- gray/lt. blue
LR Speaker - ----------- tan/yellow

RR Speaker + ----------- orange/red
RR Speaker - ----------- brown/pink

So it seems like you tapped into wires that are signal...Any reason for tapping into the front left and right rear though

There are SIX wires total on the LOC?? Left pos. and neg, right pos and neg, and two black grounds??

tapped into left front and right rear so even with fade or balance subs will play the same. and yes on the wires. left pos and nef, right pos and neg, and two grounds

im leaning towards a bad line out converter (has anyone had a bad one outta the box). i have an old line out converter here from one of my old setups a few years ago but i dont want to just splice it in on a guess cause you can only splice those wires so many times before it gets a little crazy

I dont know about that....

You sure you have good connections and the LOC is installed right? Did you try running it without the two black wires grounded? With both grounded?

Ive found a lot of times the chassis ground has little affect on anything...in any Ive installed anyway...worth a shot to play with them.

If you have a spare LOC laying around and know it works it wouldnt hurt to try it, just to rule out the LOC if you still have the problem, and if the problem goes away then obviosly you do have a problem with the LOC.

welp, the problem was either the LOC or the ****ty t-tap connectors i was using to hook it up cause when i cut out the LOC and used better connectors to hook up the old pos LOC i had laying around it works like a champ

(my guess is the ****ty t-tap connectors)

Good to hear it works now.

Best thing you can do is solder your connections if you have the equipment. Very easy to learn too

Oh yeah, you wouldnt happen to have a place where I could look at some more pics of your truck, do you? I was kind of considering those wheels and your truck is the first black one Ive seen them on with a leveling kit and 33s.

I am having the exact same problem.

I have tried two different LOC, so I don't think that is the problem.

Do the RCA cables have anything to do with it? Does it matter which RCA plug goes in which hole? My TMA amp just has two holes for each "Input" and "output", but it doesn't say anything about positive or negative. Do RCA cables even have a positive and negative??
