Upgrading Stock Sound System
Upgrading Stock Sound System
I've tried searching around and haven't found a definitive answer to my question. I am looking for a better sound system for my 2005 Fx4 SuperCrew. I would like an all around good sounding system, nothing crazy. Just some clean highs, mids and lows. An upgrade in the bass department is probably toward the top of the list, since the stock system is horrible...however, I just want to hear it a little more, no car shaking bass for me. Should I just go with some new speakers to replace the stocks and call it a day or go with a sub as well? Are there some speakers out there that will produce enough bass that I wouldn't need a sub? Recommendations? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
Exactly which factory system do you have? There was a single disc H.U., a six disc hu, and the audiophile system (has the factory subwoofer). The audiophile system is not a bad system, for a factory setup. Look in the classifieds for a complete setup, you can probably get one for a couple of bills.
The audiophile deck is different than the others, it has a third plug on the back for the sub, the system comes with better speakers than the standard system, and of couse it has a sub under the back seat.
Since you have an FX4, chances are good that you allready have the sub harness in your truck. If you do, installing the audiophile system would be just plug-n-play.

Thanks for your continuing help man. I appreciate it, as I'm new to the whole F150 thing. I am catching on quick however. I posted this before I actually got the truck. Tonight was the pickup time and I am actually extremely satisfied with the system in it. It has the 6 disc w/mp3 and factory subwoofer. I test drove a truck that must have had the other system and it didn't sound nearly as good. So I am definitely sticking with the stock sounds for now. Thanks again for the reply.
Since you have the MP3 capable deck, when you burn yourself some MP3 discs, use a simple folder structure, the deck will allow you to search thru the various folders, tracks, etc. You can also use the ID3 tags and your deck will display the track title.
