I don't know what the JL Audio subs are like now, but back when I was an installer, they needed very little room to sound awesome.

Maybe someone in the know of JL Audio's current crop can chime in.

There are tons out there.

Elemental Design
Kicker
JL Audio
Pioneer
Clarion
Earthquake
Rockford
Sony
Image Dynamics

All major brands have a shallow sub. It all depends on the actual mounting depth you need. I should know, I have been researching these subs for weeks now. I decided after a lengthy discussion with Rollingrock to go with the Elemental Design 11Kv.2 as this would be best for behind my F350 rear seats.

Good luck and keep on

I think that most of the shallow mount subs require more cubic ft than their non-shallow counterparts. I know with kicker, the cvt wants a bigger box than the cvr. I know you cant sqeeze much under the rear seat, but you dont really need a shallow mount sub. You will see a lot of guys running image, jl, and some others (non shallow mount). I know many like the image dynamics id/idq's.

Double check me on the box requirements though.

It is true that you will not need a "shallow" sub for under the seat, just a correct mounting depth for the box you want to use under the seats. In my 2004 F150 Screw, I had the JL Stealth Box and it was awesome with the JL sub and JL amp I had. No seat lift was needed.

I have been reviewing the subs and speaker threads looking for the answer to the above question since I came back from overseas...I would like to add to the first post though..I'm looking for a lot of BASS..any suggestions for a '05 SCREW... I'm coming out of a 02 Explorer ( 4 Diamond Audio M6 12 running off 2 Memphis 16-PRD1000.1 amps) I know I am not going to get half as much bass but i would still like to know what you all have been finding to be the best bass pushing subs for a screw

that is easy. I had an 04 F150 with two 10 down firing under the back seat, they pounded. I had Fosgate P2's. They hit very hard, 5 1/5 mounding depth which is perfect for that double down fireing box.

If you want BIG BASS the key is not always the sub....its the matched Air space required for optimal freq response and power. Gotta match all 3.

However that said, I had 150 watts in my P2's and they hit hard. I've been trying to get that back now that I have an F250. I've had the Fostgats, Earthquakes and now the ED....the ED's sound best and they are affordable.

In your truck you have lots of options. You can get some shallow 12's in that box....that would be better than 10's.

I am jealous...,miss my F150 for the audio, but needed the 250 to pull with.

Cheers

EDIT, photo of the F150 SCREW double down fires with Punch P2's

i have a 12" JL 12W1 behind the passenger seat of my standard cab in a truck box with a capacitor and TMA 500w amp that rattkes my truck already and monday im having a second 12w1 put in behind my seat and the pioneer avh-p5900 flip up dvd player installed the 12w1 hits hard when you want it to and has a nice sound to it im no audio expert but it sounds amazing to me it doesnt shake the windows in the cars next to me...yet but it sounds awesome in that small cab....highly recommend the JL w1 series check my second gallery (After..somewhat) and there are pics of how the sub amp and capacitor are mounted in my truck....when the second sub gets installed monday they are going to flip the capacitor straight up and down to make room for the sub to go behind my seat. sorry bout the shaky pics had the radio on when i took em

I'm looking for a lot of bass as well. I started with Fosgate 15s with I was just 16 years old in my S10 Blazer. Had 12w6s in my Eclipse and 3-10 Kickers in my Z. Since then a lot has changed. I can't figure out what all those technical numbers mean. I did look at the mounting depths for Kickers and JLs and many are over 5.75. I think that number is the cutoff point if you don't want a seatlift like I do.
