Cool Bass????

Anyone know if it is possible to put one of those powered sub combo units under the middle console/armrest piece in a 2004 supercab??? I have the split bench seats up front, 40/20/40 I think it is called, and was looking at that center space today for maybe mounting one of those all-in-one small sub units. I was checking out something like this kenwood one maybe (KSC-SW1). I just want to add some bass to the system and not kill it with the bass rattling store windows when I drive by. Just something to tighten up the lows and give it a little punch. I am also thinking about getting these pionneer 4 ways (TS-A6881R) all the way around in the doors. Any thoughts on those speakers??? No amp hooked up, just thinking of running them off of the alpine 9885 headunit. Would an amp help these out and give me enough bass that I wouldn't need the sub??? I mostly listen to rock and heavy metal. I have been looking at some 8" subs or even going to a 6" because of the space issue. I also use my rear underseat for storage, so that area is out of the question. Is there any other good spots to put a sub that would be concealed and out of the way? I have looked under the front seats, but I think it is too small of a space to fit anything. Any help would be great.

The aftermarket speakers woulnd't give you enough bass especially if they were supported by only a headunit. You would need a amp to power them to give them good power. They woudln't have the loud bass to rattle windows of the shops you could easily put a 8", 10" under the seat and be set!!

I didn't think that the aftermarket door speakers would give me that kinda bass. So you are saying that 8" or 10" sub will fit under the front seats??? It looks tight and only have about 5" from the floor to the bottom of the seat with no interference.

Why can't you put the sub underneith the backseat like everyone else?? you might be able to get a Pioneer Shallow Mount sub under the front seat....or do a custom console install..orl ike i said put it under the back seat.

I use the rear under seat for storage of tools and such for work. Otherwise I would put a slammin sub or two or three back there and rock the house like back in the day. That's why I was lookin' for other spots to mount up something. I was thinkin' about maybe under the center of the 40/20/40 split bench up front. Just don't know how much room is under there. Looks like it would be a good spot and outta the way and outta the eyes.

Lots of people have just completely removed the factory center console and built their own to house subs. It's what I would do. Waste of time and probability of crappy bass trying to retrofit the factory console.

The pioneer 6881 are not very good spks. They are clear for the first month then they will start to muddle out. Its happened on every set I have seen in 2 yrs.

Oh and the Infinity Basslink is much smaller if that helps..

Prolly custom center

since you still wanna use the space in the back 1st get a quote from some shops so u could get an idea of the cost so you can be sure you want to go that route. I'd just utilize a tool box in the bed for tools and throw the subs under the back seat...I've heard of shops doing just the console for 250 and up, of course w/o the subs.
