audiophile system??

hey guys, i have a question that might sound stupid but if anyone can help i would appreciate it. i recently bought a new f-150, and upgraded to the audiophile/6disk/mp3 system and was wondering if i actually have it in my truck. the system sounds ok, but i thought the upgraded system would have pounded a little more than that. on the actually head unit itself it only says 6-disk/mp3 no where does it say audiophile...do the audiophile systems have the name on the actually unit in the dash?? i know with gm it would say bose premium when u upgraded the systems, just wondering if i got ripped off or not. thanks for all the help.

My '07 came with the Audiophile package and I think it bumps pretty good, at least compared to my '04 SVT Focus with the Audiophile. My HU doesn't say Audiophile anywhere on it either, but the tell-tale signs should be the six speakers and subwoofer underneath the rear seat.

If you actually get down and peek at the space between the bottom of the box and floor carpet, you'll see a meager 8" downfiring sub.

yup, and you can turn up the bass volume on your head unit and your sub will play louder.

06 audiophile bass volume?

Don't mean to hijack this thread. I have an 06' w/audiophile, does anyone know if I have a bass volume control? If the 07's are the same as mine the sub cuts out if you turn the volume up too much. Pretty sure it's to save the sub from blowing up. I know I can turn up the regular bass level but is there a seperate control for the sub? I don't see anything about it in the owner's manual.

Press the Menu button and you will see it scroll through treble, bass, fader, etc...

Basically, you could either go with a box from a place like www.supercrewsub.com and put a sub in it, or if you want it done for ya already, I heard the JL Audio custom ported box that fits under the seat is pretty decent. Would require an external amp to really sound good, though, and could cost ya, I believe, about $800 or so for sub + box + amp.

I would not consider just replacing the sub, as the factory amp may not be able to support a newer sub. Not only that, an 8" sub will not give you the thump you crave, trust me. What kind of music you listen to play a big part in choosing the right sub. Rock music typically gives you that hard, quick response type of bass. Whereas, Hip-Hop or Rap will give you a deeper and longer bass note. You also have to consider the type of box you want; ported, non-ported, infinite baffle, sealed, etc. If you want more bass, do what kuruption suggested and look at www.supercrewsound.com. I plan on going with a single 12" under the rear seat, but you could consider going with 2 10" sub in the box they offer, but then you'd have to remove you jack.

i know this topic is old, but did you have to add an external amp to make the cd6/mp3 unit sound better?
I just ran into the same problem and wasn't sure what to do.

If you are turning up the volume and the bass gets lower (softer) then you dont have the audiophile sytem. I have had both and there is a night and day difference between the two. In a audiophile system the bass will get louder the more you turn the volume up on it all the way to max. Both systems have the same bass control on the menu button.
