How about the sub box you try making one yourself. It would just be a sheet of MDF board, screws, liquid sealer and basically thats it. That design seems pretty easy to cut out and screw together in my opinion and you might have some fun and joy knowing you made it yourself!!

I agree it would be fun to make but to be honest I have so many projects going on right now that's the last thing I need. Plus for ~$100 shipped its just too easy to go with a prefab.

Planning on going with a 4 channel LOC. I think this should produce good results. Also, at the limit of the budget. If you recommend something though, please do. I am by no means an expert on this stuff. Knew nothing about sound systems two weeks ago. Just been educating myself as much as possible.

Will do. There won't be much to photograph though once its installed other than the box under the back seat. The idea is someone looking in the car never realizes theres' something worth stealing..

well. can't really recommend anything specific.. but when i was looking to do what your doing (keep the stock HU).. the guy at the audio place showed me a couple of options as far as LOC's go. some are basic and like 30 bucks and some are much better and more tuneable and range from $100-400.. like the jbl clean sweep for instance. is over 300 bucks i believe. but he showed me one for about $100 bucks and said it was a good idea because the it would "get rid" of the factory eq (sore of speak). and basically clean up the sound. it's worth checking into i think. good luck.. let us know how it sounds.. im lookig at alpine type r's components for the front, type r co ax for the back and i already have a IDQ 10" sub in a custome enclosure i bought from a guy on this forum. i will do two alpine amps, a 4 channel and a monoblock for power.. but want to keep this project under a grand also, so will stick with the factory HU for now.
