maybe a dumb question

ok so i have an audiobahn mono output class d amp...here are the specs
150W x 1 @ 4 ohms RMS
300W x 1 @ 2 ohms RMS

ok so my question is will it power 2 10s? it is a mono channel but i was at best buy and was previewing sub and amps and i clicked a mono channel amp about the same size as mine and it thumped 2 10s..i thought a mono only could power one? i know nothing about this stuff so please help me lol

Mono block just means that it only has one channel. You can power 2 10s from it. It won't be stereo, but for subwoofer frequencies, stereo does not matter, as your ears can't tell where the low freqs. are coming from.

In your case, get two 10" 4 ohm subs, wire them parallel and your amp will be putting out 150 watts to each sub and seeing a 2 ohm load.

Make sense?

2 10's have more cone area than one, about 3 Db's louder.

you could get two JL Audio W1s, with 4 ohm coils. wire them in parrallel then you will have perfect power to each (they are rated 150 RMS each).

also, they are fairly shallow subs and will easily fit under your seat. JL makes the best mainstream stuff anyways, so it should sound alright.

Rockford "RFTECH"

A lot of good info on systems including different ways to wire the subs.

Yep, 2 10's is going to be louder than 1 10. Just like styx preaches, "cone area is key".

You actually want to run your subs mono, that way the same freq's come out of both subs.

Follow that link that subcooled provided and you want to get 2 4ohm subs and wire them in parrallel. That will show a 2 ohm load witch will make the best use of your amp.

Good luck, and get some pics up when completed.

I belive that's assuming that the subs you get are single voice coiled. If they're dual you can't run two of them at 2 ohm, only 4 ohm and 1 ohm. Unless I've missed a beat somewhere.

The link I posted gives you the ability to enter different quantity of subs, Dual Voice Coil or Single Voice Coil. It's a good tool to find what mix of subs will work with what amps.
