sub cover removal

I hate to ask this question, but I can't seem to find the correct search terms. So, here goes;

I recently blew the sub in my '98 Expy and so I am trying to replace it. Thing is, I can't seem to get the cover off without marring the edges. How do you get it off? Do you just pry the cover off or does the entire panel come off? Any tips/tricks/links to info?

Thanks in advance.

Chris

Is this an aftermarket sub? Or stock? Also, are you talking about the grille? I'm not sure what you mean buy the "cover".

Sorry, I am referring to the stock sub for the Mach audio system. The sub sits behind the stock enclosure, in the passengerside wheelwell. I can't figure out how to access the sub without tearing something up. Yes, cover=grille.

Thanks.

Sorry, I'm not much help here...I never keep anything stock.

Anyway, most grilles will just pop off...I DO NOT know about the stock enclosures. Sorry.

The grille that is on the interior panle will pop off....but you will only be able to acess a little bit of the sub, Im not sure if you will be able to get it out from there or not.

If you need to take the whole box off, or get to the amp or anything, then you will need to take a LOT of trim pieces and panles off to get to the whole box. Prety much the big piece that goes around the back pasengers windown, the trim peice that runs above the back door, along the bottom of the door, behind the back seats....there are a 'few' of them

I used to have an expy with the stock system also. The grill does not come off, its just there for the sound to come through lol. I learned this the hard way when I took the stock sub out haha. You have to take off the entire panel. Do this by just pulling around it until all the clips pop out. On my 04 expy I had to take the bottom seat belt bolt off and then I just pulled off all of the plastic pieces surrounding the panel and then I started pulling the panel off. Good luck

+1, the grill is not made to come off. Well it will come off but you won't get it back on. I did it to one thinking if I just tugged enough it would come loose, well it did. The problem was the grill is attached from behind the panel so I broke a few of whatever they use to keep it on there. I had to pull the whole panel to get the box out, then re-attach the grill from behind before I put the panel back in the truck.
