Question need advice from All you audio guys

Hi I have a probox rocks single 10 box http://www.proboxrocks.com/products/...0L/index.shtml this is the box but mine is unloaded ,I'm using a kicker comp c10 4ohm subwoofer. I'm currently running a Pioneer gm3000t amp bridged it is rated at 100wx1, I have a MTX 421d that is rated at 150x1 would this be a better amp to run than the pioneer?

any recomendations on what kind of power I should look for in a amp to make this speaker sound louder, hit harder etc etc.

I really don't know that much about picking speakers to go with boxes and that kind of thing I usaully go with what the car audio guys reccomend but this thing just ain't hittin!

HELP

well one sealed 10 and 100 watts isn't gonna ****. an extra 50 watts isn't really gonna help either. the real question is how loud do you really want it, what's your budget and are you willing to give up your rear seat?

Okay maybe I didn't look real good at that pic of that box but mine is ported .
I'm trying to figure out if the MTX would be better than the pioneer or if I should try to sell off some of this stuff and go with a different setup .

And the rear seat has to stay the wife would KILL me....unless you gonna let me sleep on your couch

I know back in the day alot of amps were underrated and My step son had this mtx pushin to 12's and they sounded pretty good ...I understand that they probably had the amp at 2 ohms.

Right now Money is real tight and I'm just trying to get the best sound out of what I got unless I can sell some stuff

well there go the 2 18s and 4000 watts had in mind, really tho, you can't get really loud with any under the seat setup, you can get loud but 140+ is pretty much out of the question, which sucks cause my last car had 2 ported 10s with 1800 watts hitting low 140s and I still wasn't happy. it takes a lot of power and even more know how to get one 10 loud, ported is a good start but I don't know if a prefab ported box is going to be optimal, I'd probably go with 2 sealed 10s myself.... either way you gonna need more power if you want to get loud. I dunno hat the rms for the kicker comp you have is but I'd find an amp that matches that first

150 is rms
300 is peak

styx would the mtx be a better choice than the pioneer?
just seems like this sub should be hittin harder.

or would i be better off gettin a mono amp that was rated some where between 150 and 300

I myself would go with an amp with some overhead, 200-250 at least, maybe more, I have no experience personally with kickers subs so I'm leary to recommend much more.. plus I don't know how good you are at setting the gains, but I know where your coming from, I drove around for a while with a single ported 8 and 450 watts, and it was a joke, mahbe you should retink your whole setup. instead of one ported 10 and 200watts maybe go with two sealed 10s and like 500 watts.

me thinks you are hittin the nail on the head I think i'm goona put the MTX in try to sell the pioneer and a Alphasonik and the mtx that I got and see if I can't score a decent 250-300 watt mono amp then maybe a better sub as money allows.

probably in the 200-300 range for both any recomendations you would like to make?

I'm partial to the discontinued autoteks, you can't find them so don't try looking, zapco and usamps are nice but probably out of your price range, most amps are pretty solid as long as they arnt flea market crap. subs are a little tricky cause not much fits without a seat lift

I hear ya on the Autoteks, I used to have a few of them the old all white amps they labled as the Mean Machines. You can still come across them on e-bay from time to time.

I love old school amps right now I have 2 PPI Art series amps in near mint condition the only problem is being old there are no form of internal crossovers or anything like that but I would put my old PPI's up against almost anything on the market today.
