Will it make a difference?

I have a 2005 Ford F150 supercab. I would like to keep my non-audiophile head unit. Would putting in new speakers make it sound better or am I going to have to put in a new head unit also. If I just put in new speakers any recommendations? Thanks in advance, Troy

I don't think speakers alone would make much difference. You might want to think about a Line Out Converter aka (LOC) a small amp and some speakers. This would make a huge difference and you could still use the stock head unit.

Good luck

Thumbs up A little bit of difference

I changed out my speakers for some Infinity ref6812cf.
I read on Crutchfield that you want to look for speakers with a high "sensitivity" rating.
When you plan on keeping the stock head unit.
The spkrs I put in have a 92dB rating which is pretty good.
Overall I would say you would be happier with the aftermarket speakers...
but you gotta watch out...
I started out with just the speakers, then I added the head unit (made a huge diff)
now I am on the verge of getting the amps and sub.
So it could lead you to more toys down the road,
which isn't a bad thing.
I say Do it! Do it, Do it (starsky & hutch)

Personally Im not a fan of aftermarket speakers ran off a stock HU. The stock HU has less than impressive power output. Not enough to get a decent aftermarket speaker moving to well.
Once you start cranking the volume it will just sound like poo 95 percent of the time.

Now, add an amp and thats a different story.
