It said in the post it was redone 3 times to get everything "exactly how i wanted it" ..

I could see the labor eating up alot of that... $10,000 seems a little extreme, but I could believe $5,000 with the Dynamat and having it all professionally installed at a high end customs shop.

Yes, Bryan is for real and $10,000 might be on the lite side, he will buy very high dollar audio equ, install it, just to see what it sounds like and if he likes them, then sell it...

But keep in mind, he's a corporate lawyer with a income well in the 6 figures..

I bought a set of Rainbow Profi V's very cheap from him and they got damaged in shipping, he gave me my money back plus return shipping and $20.00 for my trouble... very nice guy.....

His choice of a head unit is just horrible though. And the installation of the head unit.

He's got A single headunit just for playing music, etc. Then hes got a GPS Navigation in the center console, and when he mounted his headunit....He just kinda cut out the dash and left it looking like ****.

Favre, most alpine headunits require the blackbird in order for the GPS to function. Your right though, the install does look horrible. Or maybe he just didnt put the trim ring back on.

But I can see how that system cost 10 grand easily. Thats gotta be at least 6 or so in just sound deading/dampening. He did the entire cab, plus the wheel wells. And depending where he got it from, the Alpine components are not at all cheap. The headunit and blackbird were probablly close to 2 grand.

Why is an Alpine IVA-W200 a horrible headunit? I will agree with you on the fit of the headunit looking craptastic though.

With shop labor, deadening, fabrication, parts and such. I could see $10,000 come up pretty quick. Most of you guys are a do-it-yourselfer shopping for the dirt cheap prices on ebay and such but figure if you pay retail for products and a shop to work on your rig it adds up quick.

I took $12,000 of this kids money when I was Roadshop manager for three Circuit Citys here in KC. This was the first year that CC started carrying the new Polk Audio DB series speakers and had thier blue MTX competition amps. Four sets of 6.5" Polk DB components (2 sets in doors, 2 sets in a pod on the roof) with eight Polk DB 12s each chambered at 1.75 cuft each. Four MTX 475 (4x75) four channels and 2 MTX 3002 (1500x1) amplifiers. Streetwires 260amp alternator, two Interstate Gell Cells (1 up front, one in back), four 1.5 farad Streewires Capacitors, Alpine CVA-1000 fold-out headunit, Alpine DSP, Twelve disc changer, Streetwires 1/0 Gauge with Streetwires Zero Noise single direction wires that comes in a roll. Cut to custom size and soldered premium ends on.

Now that adds up to $12,000 bucks ONE TIME. Sad story is that less than a month after completion of the truck he was at a Metallica concert and thought he would jump out of the line of traffic on the highway and got smacked in the rear end by a semi totally destroying the rear end of the truck. He went to jail for DWI and the equipment was stollen out of the truck at the tow lot.

Sorry for the pics. My sales guy took the picture when the bass was hitting. I lost the completed picture a long time ago with the cover panels. Some a**hole stole my entire picture album of my work from the counter-top years ago. Alot of history gone.

If hes paying full nut across the board I can easily see $10K between product and labor..

Well, I didnt mean to say the head unit itself was ****, But when he can just get something with NAV built in...it doesn't make sense to me.

That and the install just ruins it for me :P

Man since my arms messed up and i won't be able to do mechanic work (well lift anything over 25lbs w/ my left arm) the thought of opening my own install shop might not be such a bad idea. I used to do it back in the 90's and apparently things have gotten much more expensive to install since then. I might have to give a few suppliers a call soon.
