10w1v2-amp question

I have a JL 10w1v2 in a sealed box under my rear seat in my 04 SCAB. Im using a 10 year old Pioneer amp pushing 125X1 to this sub. It hits pretty good, but was wondering if a new amp, maybe a little more power will make a noticeable difference? The sub is rated at 125rms...any suggestions regarding a new amp and how much rms I can push through this single 10? Im a novice at this and would really appreciate any feedback.

If your pushing 125 watts to it, then your doing perfect.

Unless you go up to around a 250 watt amp or so you really wont notice a difference-not enough to justify the cost anyway...but since you admit that you are a novice about this stuff I personally wouldnt reccommend you to send a speaker double is rated power.

If you know what to listen for and now to set things up correctly, you would be fine...I dont know how much of a novice you are though...

Thumbs up

Thanks BartaK1. Appreciate the feedback. I may opt to purchase another 10w1v2 and a new amp to drive both to get the real bump Im itching for.

I normally try to run 200W RMS on the 10" & 12" W1v2. An old Pioneer 125W amp is probably not doing the woofer justice.

people dont give the w1 very much credit where credit is due. i have three of them and they are a great speaker. 125 watts per sub is not bad. a little more power wont make as much difference as an enclosure with the proper air space. however, if you are really after it, clarion makes a 300 watt amp that is a pretty good bang for the buck. i forget the model but my dad has 1 10w1v2 in his f350 powered by the clarion. it sounds good for 1 ten.
