Question Subwoofer and Stock HU

I plan on adding a sub to my stock HU (6 disk MP3). It is an 06 XLT. I haven't kept up with Ford's HU's, I know they used to use a seperately located amp on some of there HU. Are they still doing this, or are the speaker wires out of my HU at full power? I also heard these HU have a subwoofer output for the stock woofer (which I don't have). Can I use this signal to power my woofer? Is it a line level signal or a speaker level signal? I ask these questions because I like to have a plan and know what to expect before I tear into my truck.

Thanks.

unless you have the mach or shaker system (which im not even sure if they do in the trucks, mainly the mustangs), there is no amp in your truck. i think your thinking about the older escorts', taurus', and (mercury) le sable's where the tuner was in the trunk.

as for the stock subwoofer, if you dont have the upgraded sound system, your radio probably wont have this. even if it does have the plug, i think your better off just using a line out converter.
