Yes, the two tabs that are on either end of the speakers (one on each side) need to be removed. I had the same thing with mine and was like huh? Just take you dremel and cut them off cleanly. Be careful not to damage the speaker with metal shavings though.

Trust me, you made the right choice, I love my setup...
