Which ones?

This is what I have setup in the truck right now: alpine type r components and type r coaxiels, powered by the alpine mrv-f345. And then I have 2 infinity 102.7 subs powered by alpine MRD-m605. Now I am on my second set of component because the midbass was making a weird noise that no one could explain. It wasn't blown just making a strange noise. Now that the new one is in I'm still not satisfied with them. If I keep that amp, any reccomendations on what speakers I should get. Here is the amp http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=14928
Thanks for the help.

There are *tons* of speakers that could work with that amp. Personally, I would even try to find something that will run well of 150 watts so you can bridge that amp for your front stage and either run the rear speakers off the HU or just get rid of them completley.

You can spend anywhere from 150 to 1500 bucks on a set of comps easily...

A few of us on here are running Rainbows and love them. Quite a few end up with the lower model SLC line for cost reasons (around 250 if Im not mistaken), or another popular option is the Germaniums which run around 450 I believe.

If you got the cash (or find a damn good deal) you can look into some of the higher models.

I was looking at the rainbow's and they keep listing the maxpower as like 120 for the slc. Is this their max power or their max rms?

That is what they are rated for max...but I wouldnt worry about it to much. 120wrms would be no problem for a set of SLCs.

You should be fine as long as you set your gains with a voltmeter and dont go crazy with the volume ****.

Bartak maybe you can answer this, but why do all of rainbow's speakers say they have a max of 150 or 180? What is the difference in them if they have the same power? Better sound quality?

Better sound quality the higher up the line you go definatley. The use of different parts, and different design goals is what really makes the difference in them. Dont get too caught up in the numbers...while they are nice for some guidelines and such, they really dont tell much about the way a driver can perform.

Different spiders, magnets, cone material, voice coil size, etc all make the driver what it is.

Another thing to remember is speaker efficiency. Say you are sending 100 watts to two different speakers, and one has an efficiency of 93, and the other one only 83. The one with 93 can make a lot better use of that 100 watts-which is A reason why one speaker might get louder than the other off the same amount of power, but not the sole reason of course.

Bartak which would you reccommend, the powerline or soundline? I have been looking at them, but I am confused as to why some of the 6.5's are cheaper in one line, but then the highest price one in that line is more expensive than the lowest price one in the other line. What is the difference?

Soundlines dont have a thing on the Powerlines. Powerlines are the nicer set.
