fabbing a seat lift kit
anyone fabbed up their own seat lift kit instead of throwing down 155 bucks for the LMI kit...i dont doubt the quality of their kit i just dont see where it can cost anywhere near that to produce since it appears to just be powdercoated channel steel... just want to know what others have done... lets see some pics of bracketry used and list what materials were used and if you liked the results...i dont know, maybe im the only one who doesnt want to give LMI a chunk of change for a seat lift..haha
it wouldn't be that hard to fab up, the key is where the middle bracket is, LMI doesn't lift that bracket up from what I remember, but ya screw wasting money if you can do it. warn wants 600 bucks for a dual battery tray, 600 BUCKS!!!!! 20 bucks of scrap later I had my own battery tray
the middle bracket? is that on the new body style trucks or the old, i was trying to look closely at the LMI pics but I couldnt see what you were talking about. Their lift looks almost identical to a set of seat mounts I fabbed up when I put bucket seats from a honda prelude into my old S-10 regular cab. I used that 3" channel steel and a drill press. The only difference i can see from the pics is that theirs is powdercoated, but I would probably just rattle can mine with some of that textured paint, possibly even paint it to match the carpet instead of going with black.
Zaairman did some in his old truck. Here's his gallery link.

I hear ya on the chunk of change for some damn metal! If I had a box under the seat there is no way I would pay that much for one considering I can make one from scrap metal I have laying around.
Its really not that hard at all. My buddy did one for his 00 using C channel and some pieces of pipe. Might not be the pretties but it does what it was made to do.

It can't be too hard if you've got the skills.
I'd do it if I had something to put under it subwoofer-wise.

I made mine out of 3/4" MDF I used to build my box. They go on top of the original brackets that bolt to the floor of the truck. I covered them in black carpet and then went to Ace hardware and got longer screws. Pretty simple, but it only raised it a little less than an inch.
Oh, hell. Yours is newer than mine (99) and its a supercrew. Maybe my idea will help give you an idea anyway...

Just make the box and tell people you dont want to turn the subs on because it will blow out the windows
I made my own seat blocks in my 01 screw , out of aluminum . They raise the rear seat up 2" and forward 2" .https://www.f150online.com/galleries....cfm?gnum=8771

No I didn't keep any diagram or anything . But they were very simple to make in about 3 hours , then had them powdercoated gloss black .As far as the spacing goes , You just need to measure the seat mount hole distance . You can make the blocks out of any thickness of aluminum or steel that you want . What ever thickness you chose will be the amount of lift that you get .
