..that just doesnt want to die?
This is mine...
Little 12" Eclipse I bought some years back, that I should have sold long ago. It just sits around, but every once in awhile I get the urge to pull it out and thrash on it a little. Its rated at 250wrms...not suprising by the looks of it. I used to be suprised when I would stick 600wrms to it and it took it like a champ. Over the years the coil has started to get a little black tinted, but still works great. Tonight I decided to throw it in a prefab ported box and throw it in the truck for shlits and giggles. First off, this box is tuned who knows how high...39hz wouldnt suprise me. I decided if Im going to thrash on a sub a little I might as well use something with some bass, so I threw in some Lil John. Crazy bass that can get low. I KNOW it has notes that are going below the boxes tuning frequency, but I never turned the Subsonic Filter on
At first I just had 425 watts going to it and as always, it made me grin from ear to ear...this little pos looking thing can flat out **** with some decent power.
Then I decided to see what this thing can do...bridged my XXK1500 for 1000 watts....yep, 1000 watts to this lil puny thing. I beat on it for 30 minutes and it took it like a champ and OMG...I though 600 watts on this thing was crazy
Anywho, after half hour of pretty much full volume with Lil John I decided to call it quits, and at that time I was JUST starting to smell a little bit of coil from this thing.
Went inside and threw it in my little 'home theater' setup and it still beats like it did when it was new...coils are perfect on a volt meter.
Dont you jsut love equipment that seems like it will do anything. I must say I have gotten way more than my moneys worth from this thing
