What to do????
What to do????
Hey guys,
Long time since I have posted here but have a question. I have a 2004 Screw and currently have some Alpine componets up front (about 1.5 years old) and can not remember if they are type S or typer R (but the cheaper of the 2) running off an Alpine MVR f340 4 channel amp. As well as a JL Audio
10"sub running off a JL Audio d class amp. This is my delema. The sound is great, could not be happier. It is loud and clear. I am only running 2 channels (for the fronts speaker) and still have 2 channels left on my 4 channel amp. I have been doing this for the past year and a half. I was at one time going to put rear speakers in but decided not to. What should I do with the other 2 channels? Should I put in rear speakers? Should I take the mids from my front speakers and put them in the rear and buy new components for up front? Better ones than I currently have?
HELP!!!!

Why do anything? If it works, and you are happy with it, you might as well leave it.
Unless your wanting rear speakers I wouldnt do that either. Rear fill just messes with your soundstage anyway
If your very carefull and know what your doing you could bridge them, but Im not sure how much power those speakers can ACTUALLY take (btw, the cheaper ones are the Type Ss, the more expensive ones are the Type Rs)
Could even run them active...
But, like I said, if you like it now, why change it?

I was thinking about getting JL Audio XR570-CSi components andbridging the amp. The bridged 2 channels puts out 90 watts rms and the speakers are rated at 70 watts rms.
What do you think of that?
Any other ideas? Comments or suggestion welcome. Any other components suggested? I live in Canada and I am looking to spend up to $300.00 CAN $ for a set of components but do not know what will be better than what I have.

If your wanting to change components, the best thing you can do is go to a stereo shop and listen to different sets and see what you like.
You should be fine running some 70watt JL's off of 90 watts. If it starts smelling or you can tell they are stressing just back off the volume, or the gains a little so it doesnt happen again.
I have no idea how much 300 CAN is in US dollars
200ish???
