Sound Stage

Long story I blew my speakers in mexico and thats why I bought my rainbows. I had only had time to replace the fronts so I just faded all the sound forward so no crackling in the rear. I got some infinitys put back in the rear and faded it back to normal and I dont like how is sounds now, I liked it all forward, but then my rear passengers dont have any sound. Could someone teach me about sound staging or what should I do here, Bridge my JL amp and give the fronts all the power and run the rear off the deck, cut the backs out competely, center channel? I love my new front speakers what should I do to fill out my sound? What is everyone else running?

I'm running a set of rainbow 6x8 comps in the front of my Screw, off of my HU and pioneer coax's in the rear, with it set at 90%front 10%rear and the sound is dead on what I want and like.

infinity with rainbows is like turnips with chocolate cake. It just don't work.

I'd pull the rear speakers and leave a hole there. What other equipment do you have in your truck?

fade it forward all the time, cept when you have rear passengers, then just give it 1-2 clicks back, it doesn't take much to keep them happy

I have 2 JL 10 w3 Is that all you guys do? Fade it forward? In my maxima I had the alpine HU with the time allignment and loved it now but I cant find a HU with that anymore. I know I know about the infinitys, i am taking care of them next. I do a little system, a little lift and keep going back and forth. What is a proper sound stage that everyone talks about clue me in.

The perfect soundstage is like a concert. Think about it like this... when you are at a concert you dont have music playing at you from behind, only coming at you from the front of you. So when you close your eyes you want to be able to pick out where the guitarist should be on stage and the drummer, and the bassist and so on.

As far as rear fill... I used to run even fill front and rear, then I got brave and bridged my 4 channel to my front MB quartz to give them each 100W RMS and now run the rear MB Quartz off of the head unit giving them approximately 15-22W RMS. There is just enough wattage in the rear to please the rear passengers and too little wattage to affect my front soundstage. I am happy with this setup currently so that is what I'm sticking with.

Now if you want to get into 5.1 Channel staging then your in a whole different ballpark which you can still get amazing sound quality out of a 5.1 surround, it is a little harder to obtain than a good front soundstage.

MO POWA!!!

Or, as suggested, have the rears so you can JUST hear them, or not at all, from the front, but still audible for the rear.

OR...screw the rear passengers.

But like I said, a good set of comps with some good power will fill the cab with sound nicely.

I guess this is my first official post! Are you talking about the CDA-7998? I had that one too... loved it. I had the Pioneer Premier DEH-P980BT last year and am buying the DEH-P880PRS this week as I put the rest of my system together... they both have the time alignment and I actually get a better sound out of the Pioneers then even the Alpine. It has AutoEQ so you can put the included microphone in the listening position, get out and shut your car door, and it detects the acoustics of your car and sets the time alignment and equalizer appropriately... this technology has been out for awhile but I had never really been impressed with different companies' attempts at it until the 980BT. Pioneer Premier has really come a long way with their headunits. Anyway sorry for the ramble but if you are looking for something with TA or AutoEQ check out those two models for sure! You can pick up the 880PRS on ebay for about $300 new, and it has separate Left and Right 16 Band EQs to boot!
