Smaller than reccomened airspace

I have two jl 12w3v2's and jl reccomeneds that they have 1.0 cu ft a peice. Probox makes a box for two twelves, but they only have .80 cu ft per side, will this make a big difference in performance and if so, what will happen?

Those JL's are a great bang for the buck! It looks like http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...p?series_id=12 recommends a 1.25 cuft box each for your subs, 0.8 cuft seems a bit too small. If I had the choice, from a SQ perspective, I'd rather go with ONE sub in a 1.6 cuft enclosure rather than two subs in 0.8 cuft each.

A smaller than usual sealed box will NOT be harmful, in terms of damaging the drivers. In terms of sound, your Qtc will be high likely above 1.0, meaning your bass will not extend as deeply as it could in a larger box, however, you will get a nice "bump" in response at the upper bass frequencies.

It would be a shame to use those excellent JL subs in a "subpar" sized enclosure. In short, they will likely sound like $40 Kmart woofers-in-a-box.

That would be some TIGHT bass for certain.

Damn I wish they made a dual 12 box for the supercrews. Guess I'll suffer and make my own this coming weekend. Joy.
