Question 2003 Scab speaker replacement

i'm looking into replacing the factory speakers on my 2003 scab... what size speaker do i need so that i don't have to do any cutting or altering to the doors? any recommendations on what sounds good? i'm just looking to replace the current speakers with better ones and dont want to get to crazy. if i can get away with not having to install an amp, great, but if you recommend it, please let me know

5x7/6x8 is the size you need.

Its hard to make a suggestion without knowing a budget or what you call "good". One of the best things to do is to go to a stereo shop and listen to different speakers so you can get an idea of what you like.

No, you dont need an amp. You will notice a nice little improvement over not having an amp, but like I said, not required. If you NOT using an amp, it helps a little to find speakers with a higher sensitivity rating, someithng in the 90db range or more...

He means both of these sizes fit in the mounting area. Both of these speakers sizes will work in your truck. I just put 4 5x7 Polk DB571's in my truck this weekend. You can get a pair at Circuit City for $100.

How are you liking those "Polks"?? I saw them @ CC too.....

They sound good for not having an amplifier hooked up to them. I can't wait to put an amp to them!

I'm leaning towards them as well. Glad to hear they are sounding good. My buddy is tring to sell me on "Memphis" speakers...
