Howdy All,
I just got an 07 SCAB with the audiophile package. Although it does sound pretty good for a factory system, I was wondering what could be done to the system to upgrade without tearing into the system i.e., no new head unit or amp.
Depending on what kind of music and how loud I am playing it I get a speaker crack which seems to be coming from the front passenger side. The speakers are not blown and I was wondering if I could upgrade to a better set of speakers all around front and back to withstand better the factory power?
Does anyone know what kind of amp if any Ford uses in their trucks? I do not want to alter my "factory system" to much and I was thinking that a speaker change would do it. Perhaps after I have had the truck for a good while I'd consider further changes, but for now I do not wanna cut into the system very deeply.
Are the speakers fairly easy to change in the door panels yourself? Looks like they just pop out (the speakers covers/panels) or does the entire door panel have to be removed to change the speakers?
I know that this is a tall order not wanting to change to much, but any help would be appreicated. I am not one to alter a new vehicle too much especially while I am paying for it still. I agonizied over putting on the cat backs for days, but after I did it was worth it. Thanks

Just changing out speakers would have some effect. How much probably depends on each person. Some have said it makes a huge difference. Others have said they did not notice much difference. That's about the only route without getting in to amps and such.

I agree. You are talking about a $300 piece of equipment that still uses the factory head unit.

Guys I think he wants to keep the head unit. I don't necessarily disagree but that's what that unit is designed for to keep the factory headunit which he wants. Because mine coming as Nav I am going to use the Cleansweep though I am sure I will swap the head unit and sell the clean sweep because I want bluetooth and the Music keg which means I will either get the 7017 or the Z1 with the hard drive.
