Routing New Speaker Wire

I thought this would be easier then it is..

I don't have the dreaded clip in the doors, I have the boots.. What is the most effeciant way to route the speaker wire into the door? Seems like the rear are the hardest?

This is only temporary untill i get my comps in the doors but, I also have the boots, i just ran the speaker wire outside of the boot from the cab to the doors... like is say it's temporary, but it works without any wind noise or whistling... make sure if you do this you seal the boot back in place really well.

I just did it yesterday on my '04. Might not be the only way but it worked great.

I did the old "wire hanger trick". If you take off the kick panels and look carefully you'll see where the boots come into the cab. I took a wire hanger and rolled the tip over tightly so it was rounded and wouldn't poke through the rubber. Carefully work the hanger through the boot till it comes out into the door. It will take a little work, you can feel the hanger going through the boot, it will catch here and there, and you have to use your free hand to move it around within the boot to get it through. Just be patient and it will go.

Then use some electrical tape and tape the speaker wire to the hanger and gently pull the hanger back through bringing the speaker wire with it.

Voila, your done.....

Ya i just did mine a little while agoand used the same trick but i just used a stiff wire. And the rears are actually easier to do than the fronts becuase there is more room to work and it is moreof a straight shot.

How do you access the boot for the rear doors from the interior side: Through the pillar? Does it detach somewhere?

You can pop the boot out of the door and jam so you can see better what you are doing, then fish the wire though with a metal coat hanger maybe 12" to 16" long with a small loop on the end, pull the wire though and pop the boots back in holes... easy and painless... Note on the boots there is a hash mark on the top center, make sure its still on top center when it go back in.... that way theres no stress and twisting on the boot....

Do you have to take the pillar off to get the speaker wire into the rear opening?

Yeah me neither, the weather hasn't been to inviting. I am trying to get all my ducks in a row before I go out and attempt though.

So does anyone know if you have to take the pillar off?

yes, I did, you have to get room to work, it could be done by poping it loose, but the seat selt bolt and one more small bolt at the top under the cap, pop the clips on the rest and it out of there and wide open to work.....

work the pull wire from inside all the doors though the boot into the pillow, hook your speaker wire and pull the rascal back to the inside of door, reinstall the boot and done deal...
