Component Choice

I have a 2004 f-150 XL. I want to put some good components in my Truck. I'm looking at just 6.5 components up front. No rear speakers. I have a JL 300/4. 150 of those watts are bridged to my JL 13w1v2. I have 75 watts per speaker left over which i think is enough to run some good components. I'm looking in the 225-250 dollar range. I have been looking really hard at a pair of JL 6.5in XR components that i can get for 240 dollars. I just realized that might be a biased purchase because of my love for my sub. I just wanted some suggestions/ input from other car audio guys. Anything would be greatly appreiciated. I'm no expert.

Also most of the products i have been looking at come from here- 220-260 dollar range

JL makes good subs, I have 3. Never listened to any other speakers from them. I have Infinity components in the front and I like them.

Hi, I have the JL Audio XR570's. They sound great and fit the door perfectly. Cheers, Blue

I don't if this'll help at all or not, but I just bought a pair of Polk MM 5250's for my '04 screw. I haven't gotten them installed yet, so I can't tell you how they sound - but I did read all the posts in these fourms and from what I can tell, those, or the next step up the MM 6500 seem like a good choice.

I sure hope so - mine are sitting on my dining room table waiting for my new HU to get here!

Well that makes me nervous...what power were you running to them? I am going to run 75W to each (they have an RMS of 10-100)

/sorry for the threadjack
//nice to see some people in the neighborhood! I'll drop you a line if I get stuck on the install.

Yeeaaa, I may have slightly over powered them..
I still need to check output power level, this amp is way under rated as show with a 33.5 volt (260W) reading on DDM without clipping... I want to hook up my fluke 87 and set to peak hold, play a couple tunes and see just what it doing in real time...
