Component Choice
Component Choice
I have a 2004 f-150 XL. I want to put some good components in my Truck. I'm looking at just 6.5 components up front. No rear speakers. I have a JL 300/4. 150 of those watts are bridged to my JL 13w1v2. I have 75 watts per speaker left over which i think is enough to run some good components. I'm looking in the 225-250 dollar range. I have been looking really hard at a pair of JL 6.5in XR components that i can get for 240 dollars. I just realized that might be a biased purchase because of my love for my sub. I just wanted some suggestions/ input from other car audio guys. Anything would be greatly appreiciated. I'm no expert.

Nawww

Like Bry said, SCL's. Or if you go with used you can get some nice deals.
I don't if this'll help at all or not, but I just bought a pair of Polk MM 5250's for my '04 screw. I haven't gotten them installed yet, so I can't tell you how they sound - but I did read all the posts in these fourms and from what I can tell, those, or the next step up the MM 6500 seem like a good choice.
I sure hope so - mine are sitting on my dining room table waiting for my new HU to get here!

I still need to check output power level, this amp is way under rated as show with a 33.5 volt (260W) reading on DDM without clipping... I want to hook up my fluke 87 and set to peak hold, play a couple tunes and see just what it doing in real time...
