What for the rear speakers?

Can not decide what to put in for the rear speakers

Front SPKS: KFC-X1700P
Rear SPKS:
AMP: KAC-X542

SUBS: (2) KFC-XW1002DVC
SUB AMP: KAC-X812D

that is the setup I have so far, all is pretty much Kenwood eXcelon (I am trying to stick with eXcelon, this is going in a 1998 Ford F150 extended cab)

If there was no back seating having no rear fill would be understandable. On my 4 door I like panning to the back to let the kids play the xbox or listen to their kid music. Also if you have passengers i'd think they'd want to hear more than booms.

I would just ditch the back speakers too. If you really want them, just get the 5x7 version of what you are putting up front.

All that KFC I keep seeing from that post has me hungry for chicken...

Never been a fan of Kenwood speakers. I'd go with Polk or BA or Infinity 5x7's. Don't waste your time trying to fit a 6x9.

I'm sorry, but I'm still just not understanding the no rear fill thing. I've searched and read a little bit about it, but if somebody could kind of explain the logic of not doing anything for the rear I would be grateful.

Why no rear fill exactly? How does it hurt sound quality by having rear fill? Thanks guys, this place has loads of information and I'd be lost without it. Thanks again!!

it pulls the stereo soundstage too far back. simple as that... when studio engineers mix a stereo cd they do so with stereo studio monitors setup in front of them the do NOT use headphones unless they are trying to pick something out. with rear fill it makes the reproduction sound less like the engineer intended too and more like headphones.... a tool which is usually used for critical listening but not so good as far as musical reproduction goes. the sound stage needs to be in front of you not around you like most people think.... this is tru for ANY time stereo sound is to be reproduced.

Thats the best way I can put it. I also argue the fact that 5.1 movies need to be played back in 5.1..... but of course my mom doesn't understand that and so we watch movies in stereo through the tv... barf
