Although I like the quality of the recordings (for audio 5.1), I still have a hard time listening to them every now and then. The music from behind throws me off.

So do you feel the same way that he does about rear fill brypink2, or anybody else for that matter? I understand what he is saying, but do others agree or do some people have different feelings regarding rear fill??

I have a full 5.1 setup in my truck. For movies, it is 5.1. For anything else, I run front left, front right, and sub. My H701 gives me the ability to store the settings and switch between the two with just a few button pushes.

For the most part I agree. It's all about the front stage and imaging (amongst other variables)...especially in the competition formats.

I've had rear fill...but it was faded so much that it really did nothing for the sound quality. I do have the ability for 5.1, but I currently do not have rear speakers. It's all personal preference.

I recommend to not add rear speakers and use the money that you were going to use for rear speakers to double up your budget for the front speakers. Get a better quality set. Then, if you just have to have rear speakers, get a less expensive set that handles less power (because they will be faded anyway).

Alot say they want rear speakers for their passengers to hear and enjoy the music...they don't want them to feel left out. Well, I can tell you there's not that problem in my truck.

I was just messin' with Styx about 5.1. The recording quality is outstanding...but the listening quality throws me off a bit.

I am getting ready to go active. Hopefully this weekend. All I have to do is run wire in to the driver's door. Fun, fun, fun dealing with the stupid clips Ford used.

Unless you have kick panels with components and/or time correction, then the whole front stage arguement doesn't really matter. Sure in a perfect world you want two speakers equally spaced. Good luck without the kicks and time correction.

I like a little back fill. And I have kids so I have to have speakers back there.
