Pioneer vs Kicker
Pioneer vs Kicker
Hey all,
Im to the point of buying a sub after a little research. I am not wanting to spend a lot, so I have been looking at Pioneer and Kicker with same brand amps. My last system was with the Kicker Comps with a Kicker amp, and it sounded really good. Im looking for a little tighter bass this time, so I was considering either going to the Comp VR, or a Pioneer sub? Anyone have an suggestions? Also, I listen to pretty much everything...country, rap, rock, is my best bet going to be a 10" for good, clean bass? Thanks all

Is neither a choice?

I want a sub/amp under $350 (not including box, wiring) I will build the box. I have a Pioneer DEH-4600 MP3/WMA cd player that came in the truck, and 5x7 Pioneer speakers in the front, and 5x7 Planet Audios in the back. I want a sub that will be accurate, as well as punch out some pretty good bass.
That's an awfully tight budget for both... your cheapest best bet would probably be a JL w1, or maybe a Polk MOMO sub. I don't keep up on the cheaper stuff much anymore, so maybe someone else can chime in...but from my experience in the past the pioneer stuff was very weak and never anything special.
As for the amp..ehh... Hifonics has a few out there with a pretty good output in that price range. Try ebay.

I can do a Comp VR with a 300.1 amp for around $300. I have heard that the VR's have pretty good SQ, compared to the Comp, which is what I did have. I live in Alaska, so not looking for anything expensive, in case on a -55 degree morning it blows.
