Red face :confused:Need help with Ohms!

Hi,
I want to get a single 10 or 12 sub, but Im not sure what the difference between a 4 ohm DVC and a 2 ohm DVC sub is. The last sub I had was a Comp and its a single voice coil.... Need some help please.

A single 4 ohm DVC you can wire to either 2 ohms or 8 ohms.

A single 2 ohm DVC you can wire to either 4 ohms or 1 ohm.

This changes when you add another sub.

I think Dan Wiggins from Adire Audio tells it best:

Good read...but, it basically just boils down to more wiring configurations.

Agreed And also better "cone handling" or "braking" as Dan puts it. But it's been forever since I read that article, so I could be WAY off

Thanks for the help, but I still must be a complete idiot...to get the two variations of ohms per sub, you have to wire them in series, or parralel, right? How to do you do it to achieve these two ohms? Parralel equals what ohm, and series equals what ohm? Im sorry

Parallel divides the ohm load, and series multiplies it.. sorta...

Use the Ohms calculator at: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxcalcs.asp

Yup...

To get final ohm load for DVC subwoofers:
Parallel = VC ohm / 2
Series = VC ohm x 2

RF wiring wizard works to:
