Question Set me straight

I have an 04 F150 SCREW, I removed the factory 6 disc player and replaced it with a ford focus single disc mp3 capable deck. Now everything works fine with the system but I just love to fiddle, however I promised the woman of the house I would not get to crazy with modding.

So the questions are: Is it worth while to put in an audiophile unit and the factory sub? (i have located both ends of the harness to do this). Or would a person be better off to put in after market speakers, ex. drop ins or components? Or a combination of the two? (I am basically looking for BANG for $$$$)

Here are the problems: I dont plan to run any wire...So...No amps will be used minus the possibility of the stock one on amp/box unit. I dont even want to run wire to tweeters or cut wires (so i would want connector adapters) I also am up to pulling front speaker grills but not door panels so....can components be installed with out pulling inside door panels to install/mount tweeters?

I also went with my focus single disc rather then the 6 cd changer mp3 cause I heard the single discs have better SQ, is this true?

I guess to sum it up do I want:
1)audiophile headunit (05 up for mp3 capability) and sub/amp (oem)
2)drop in speakers that will sound good with stock HU (fronts only)
3)components (assuming i can wire these and fit these without panel removal or trimming, with use of connector adapters (fronts only as well))
4)Learn to be content with what I have, and sit on my hands

It would be great if you guys could help me out. Of course if you were so kind as to suggest some makes and models and websites etc. that would be greatly appreciated....

Edit: I will head to my Ford dealer tomorrow as well to see if I can listen to an audiophile unit and a non-audiophile one for comparison

audiophile

well I went to the dealership and listened to an 07 f150 w/ the audiophile system and one w/out and I have to say I was pretty impressed with the difference if I can find the head unit and sub/amp/enclosure for a good price then I think I will go that root. I also went and listened and looked and some 5x7 and 6x8 all they had was alpines type S and R but I couldnt hear a difference, infact worse if anything then stocks. I need some more info thoe so....fill me up.

Well if you’re unwilling to run after market amps but you’re willing to run the stock one I don’t really see what choice you’ve given yourself.

Not many here will suggest running after market speakers off of your stock head unit because it can damage them. Aftermarket speakers need sufficient wattage to run properly, which means amps are needed to power them.

So yea, in your position id go a stock audiophile over some aftermarket speakers getting half the RMS they need and no sub. (cant have a sub unless you power it) so really audiophile is the only choice you’ve given yourself.

I saw an audiophile sub on ebay with the whole enclosure and everything. I think it was going for around $80 but im not sure. Check with ebay before you have the stealership hook you up.

**EDIT**: That sub I was talking about went for more than I thought. Here is the link to the auction:

Okay I give up!

Well I give up! I am now willing to run some wire. Turns out its gonna cost me to much bling to get the audiophile HU and Box deal so maybe I will just go for the after market. As it turns out I have a Alpine Class D MRP-M350 mono amp in the garage. I also like the look of these

What are your guys thoughts on these Base links or would it just be better to use the amp I have and get a woofer and enclosure. If you could give me some suggestions as to what box and some woofer suggestions that would be great. I guess its only a 200watt rms amp so I shant need too big of a woofer. As well to make this work with my factory HU i need a speaker line in adapter or what have u. I see the amp has a spot to plug in a speaker level input plug, can this be used or puchased?

Sorry for being all over the place trying to make up my mind. I am just tryin to up the sound for a decent price without changin too much from stock thus causing a fight I am just not up to fighting with the wifey.

Too much bling? How much did you price them for?

I find it hard to believe that you will pay more for the stock deck of a Ford than you would for a decent aftermarket Head unit, amp and sub.

Wink Too Much Bling

It will only be too much bling cause I plan to use an amp I already have and will be using my stock head unit as well. So I will only be buying a sub, some amp wire and an enclosure or building one if someone on here has some good single sub box plans for the 04 SCREW.
