well for starters set the puch bass as low as it goes. then turn the crossover to about 80-100 then make sure the hp-full-lp is set to lp. that will at least get rid of any of those problems. then re adjust the gains

aslo I would rewire your subs run the amp in 2-channel mode instead of bridged. use at least 12 GA wire or bigger. the run each sub parallel down to 3 ohms into each channel

just also thought of another thing.... run a crossover on either your amp or your HU. don't run both. so lets say you have you HU's sub outputs crossed at 80hz. set the amp to full range

First thing I would check is the crossover too, make sure its on LP.

Styx, why put a sub on each channel? Stupid manual isnt working for me, but he's not going to be gaining any power is he? Only stereo bass instead of mono bass Or what am I overlooking...

why not? maybe the amp isnt liking being briged. most bass is recorded in mono anyway. plus two runs of 12ga > one run

i have an 06 reg cab and i built a sealed box for my 12 inch L5. it is down fireing. the dimensions are 23 inches tall, 30 inhes long, 13 inches wide on bottom and 6 inches wide on top. i am running it off my stock stereo and a 800 watt mtx mono block amp. the lows and highs are incredible. i will post pics when i can take them.

Ok..did what you said to do here and it sounds a bit better. I have the filter set to Full, the crossover on the amp turned all the way down and the crossover setting on the head unit set to 90hz( ive adjusted it from 80 - 100) I still need to adjust the gains. I just couldn't find the worlds smallest phillips screwdriver to adjust them . I'll have to get one tomorrow. BUT...I still don't think its gonna sound very good. I love deep bass that really pounds and this set up just doesn't do it for some reason. I'm not so sure I'll ever be happy with these subs and amp. I need to get creative and figure out how to fit the Type R 10's in the truck without lifting the back seat.

I'm kicking myself..I shoulda went with what I know and figured out how to get the Alpines in the truck before I bought all this crap. Although I didnt pay much for it, but still....*sigh* any suggestions??

Brew- have you figured this out yet? One possibility is that the phase is wrong- sounds ok when the volume is low, gets progressively worse as you turn it up? MAYBE try makiing sure your positive/negative wires are right on each sub. I had it happen one time in my Explorer and when I removed the box and then reinstalled it the base went away. Went back and checked and I had a sub with the negative/positive wires reversed. Good Luck!

Well I pulled the subs out and rewired everything as suggested above. Im using the crossover settings on the head unit instead of the amp and have adjusted the gains. It sounds better, still not great. Not sure if theres much more I can do with this setup. I may have to go buy something else. The JL's just dont seem to have the deep bass Im looking for.

I think you stumbled on the answer. The JL 10W6 is still considered one of the best subs of all time but, for SQ. They were never a big bass sub. It could be they just do not have enough bass for you. You have plenty of power and your setup seems good. Might be time to find you some 12" subs that will fit
