Deeper Bass?
my roommate has that 10" rfosgate punch in his camaro in a side firing box, its okay, and hes pushing it with a baby 735w infinity amp. But it sounds pretty good for one 10, I think he found his sub on ebay for about 200ish
But yes styxnpicks is correct more cone area is good, but if you have quality subs. You cant tell me that 4 walmart 12" subs are gonna hit harder then two 12" JL W6s. But if you had 4 12" JL W6s

8 Ohm speakers would only receive about 400w of that 800w amp. I would almost bet your 800w amp is 800w peak power as well so I figure roughly that your pulling 200w RMS out of that amp. I think 2 12's would be more than enough deep bass. You just don't have the right speakers. Your best bet is to get rid of those 8 ohm speaker and get a descent set of 4 ohm 12" subs. Test it out and see if you want a more powerful amp. Sure 15's would be great but i think 10-12 is a good punchy size unless you want to go ultra deep. If I was to go with a 15 I'd build a air tight space inside the box to seal some 8's for the higher end of the sub woofer scale. Deep sound good but you need to get the mid bass taken care off cause that's where the punch comes from.
Shop at crutchfield and buy at cardomain.com.They are authorized dealers for all their stuff and don't cost nearly as much as crutchfeild.

as you can see...certainly not top of the line...i didnt know too much about subs when i bought them (first I have ever owned) but im learning as I go. As far as the subs go...I have money to spend on something really good...but of course I dont want to go overboard just buying the most expensive thing. I am wanting really deep, clean sounding bass. A lot of power!!! and minimal space. Any recommendations on brands of subs, and enclosure types for those specific subs? I think my amp is ok...its a 760w pioneer amp

keep in mind the stock electrical system can only give you about 1500w @ 14.4v anything more is gonna be a waste. I'd look at using about 1200w of that and then use all the airspace you got and fit the most cone area you can using the least amount of the biggest drivers you can. as long as they are quality drivers. I personally went from 2 10's with 1200w ea in a 3 cu ft box to 2 18's w 800w ea in a 20 cu ft box. there are literally tons of variables that are gonna determine the end result. I do agree down fireing or upfiring is the way to go in truck cabs. and with reg cab your kinda stuck with down firing. also if you REALLY know what your doing and are building the box yourself go ported and tune low. if someone else is building it for you go sealed. ported boxes can sound just as good and have that extra 3dbs but theres very little room for error. where as a sealed box's volume can be 50% off each way and still work altho it wouldnt optimal for the driver. I'm pretty sure you could fit 4 13w3v3's downfiring sealed with about 1600w and sound real good
Not to highjack the thread here, but since theres a bunch of you in here that know about subs and all, I have a question. I have 2 10" JLW6's in a musicmoose sealed box powered with a Rockford 800ma. I bought the stuff used from a buddy so I dont really know all the specs on the amp or what the max these subs can handle. The subs are the older style W6 and Ive been told they are really good and can handle alot of power. The amp is also an older style Rockford Punch 800ma. My problem is that they dont hit hard at all. When they hit with rock music, they are tight but just not deep or hard. Also, when turned up a little they start to distort at what I dont think is very loud. I've never had JL subs before, I've always had Alpine and they hit deep and hard. My last setup was 2 Type R 10's powered by a US Amps US1000. I gave them to my nephew since they wouldnt fit in the truck and just about cry everytime I get in his jeep and hear them..they sound great.
Am I expecting to much from these JL's? will they ever compare to my Type R's? Do I just not have enough power going to them? SHould I just throw it all out and get new stuff? Anyway I can get the Type R's under the back seat without lifting it? Any help would be appreciated.
What I have:
Alpine W200
Subs W6 (wired parallel)http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...php?page_id=15
Rockford Fosgate Punch 800ma I cant find it online but theres a picture of it in my gallery.
Edit: cant get the JL link to go right to the subs, just go to that link and click on discontinued subs to see the list.

brew. its probably the way your amp is adjusted. could be a crossover set wrong mass boost turned way up. you really never know till you get in there. I had a buddy of mine buy 2 diamond audio 15 D^'s and a memphis 1000w amp. I had to set it up. he just couldn't get the crossover points right. the w6's are good subs. amp should be enuff for em. sometimes its something so simple as a phase problem or a crossover set to high.

I was thinking the same thing. Is there any possible way you can help me without actually being here to look at it? I have a ton of settings in the head unit for frequency and crossover levels and of course all the settings on the amp? I have a buddy up in Connecticut that does all this stuff but i cant get up there for a few more weeks and its killin me that it sounds like crap....I know its hard to do over the internet, but any help has gotta be beter than what I have now...

Just a thought for you Brew...
You have a pair of dual 6 ohm subs wired to 1.5 ohms or close. Is your Rockford the 800.2 two channel amp? If so, and you are running it bridged, you are putting a lower load than it is rated at. It is rated at 800 watts into a 4 ohm load. Please correct me if that is not the amp you have.
May or may not have any effect on your sound.

Ok, I was wrong. I have them wired series / parallel which should present a 6ohm load. I'm gonna double check later, but im sure thats how they are. So is running that amp at 4ohms still ok?
I have some paperwork on the amp at home, so I'll check the specs later. I cant seem to find it online so I'm not sure if its the 800.2, but I dont think it is.

Just trying to help you double check everything
