In Need Of Guidance for New System
Sorry for long post but you'll see the reason for it if you choose to read on...
Hey guys, just turned 16 and am driving an 2006 F-150 XLT Scab. I had previously had a 57 Bel Air I worked on since I was 13 and basically sold it after I restored it, thus helping pay for a generous amount of the new truck. The Bel Air had 6.5 Alpine type-S component's up front and type-S 6x9's in the back being pushed by a cheap Power Acoustik amp. I wasn't really happy with the system as a whole. Now I have my truck I have some left over money from the Chevy and the first mod is the sound system...what else would a highschool student want. Wheels and tires were a bit out of my range so this is where I'll start my new project! Sorrry for the long intro but its my first post and wanted to introduce myself.
So here's the deal, I have about 1600 for the product plus install. I actually can probably do the install myself but am not familiar with audio systems as I had my previous professionally done (if thats what you want to call it, they were sub par to say the least).
Here's what type of product I was thinking but not sure what brand, etc. I am not opposed buying used as the best products I can find will probably have to be used or off ebay to fit the budget:
Component system in front (Not opposed to cutting a little to fit 6.5's)
Coaxils in the rear
SuperCrewSound box (1 or 2 10 inch openings)
1 or 2 Subs
4-Channel amp
Mono amp
or 6-Channel amp.
Probably run off factory HU until I can save up for a in dash nav system.
Thanks in advance, you guys really sound like you know your stuff around here. Cheers!
<--haha, love that guy

Well first off welcome to the forums
Ummmm....its kind of hard to make suggestions on a whole system like this.
First off, install if youself...its really not as intimidating as it seems, and if you restored a whole car, it shouldnt be to hard for you
Plus, paying someone to install all that would take up a pretty good chunk of that budget.
Car audio forums are also a great place to look for used equipment, along with eBay as you mentioned.
If you do a little bit of searching around on the forum here you can find a lot of the answers you are looking for.
