Major system question

I am currently planning on putting 6 15's in the bed of my truck and doing a cut out between the cab and bed. I am looking for anyone here who has a similar set up or knows of someone who has the same.

The question i have is , how much does the back seat affect the amount of bass that comes through the cutout. I know that it will definately be louder without the seat back on but that is not an option.

Man, you have a very nice truck, why in the world would you want to put 6 15's in the bed of your truck and doing a cut out between the cab and bed.
Build a custom box, seat lift if needed and shake off that urge to cut up a $40,000 truck.....

Wow. You must be made of money! Are you planning on entering SPL competitions? If not, there is absolutely no reason for that much bass. Also, I've done something similar in years past with an s-10 pickup except it was with 12 12's in a walk-thru configuration. I can't tell you what it did to my truck. It went from being a nice, tight, solid little pickup truck to a total POS in about a year. Everything fell apart on it.

As far as getting bass into the cab, why don't you just cut out the section that the armrest folds up into and cover it with steel mesh grille? It'll still look stock if you paint it black, and then you'll get all the air movement your internal organs can handle

Hey,I did the pass-thru on my 02 F-150 and have had no troubles to date.It was cut/installed in July this year. Had a shop in Chickasha,Okla. do the work along with my stereo system install. I'm running 2 12" Kenwood w3514d woofers in a SuperBox ProBox bolted to the bed and matched to the front bed face. They are powered by a Kenwood kac-7252(1,000 watts) amp. My complete seating system is installed and carpeting is complete. I have a roll-up bed cover. The seal between the cab and bed is a R/V style unit like they use in camper conversions and has had Zero issues. I live on a dirt road in Texas and would know belive me! The boom is there if you want it or the punch if you crank it. I'm sure the seat back soaks some energy if you are looking for an SPL rig. Not a problem for listening pleasure though. Oh Yeah,Casper is paid for, don't know if I would do it on a rig I owned with the bank!

Sorry, went off on a tangent on previous reply.Sound level. I had the pass-thru done on mine after hearing a dude's cranked with NO seats and it was SICK. Actual sound waves thru the body type. I was outside the pick-up by the window and was amazed. Hadn't heard sound level like that since a Ted Nugent concert(oh these many yrs. ago).Yeah,it will sure be louder without the seat back. It's funny about my setup, you can be inside with it cranked to where the rear view mirrow is dancing and my dogtags are swinging and outside is all calm with the windows up. Have fun and go with your heart,it's your money!

I HAVE A CUSTOM TRUCK WITH A CUT OUT THROUGH THE CAB AND I DON'T RECOMMEND IT. IT'S COOL AND ALL BUT IT WILL RUIN YOUR TRUCK. I ACTUALLY TOOK ALL THAT SH*T OUT AND HAD TO WELD BACK TOGETHER THE BODY. IF YOU WANT TO CHECK OUT MY SYSTEM, YOU CAN GO UNDER MY GALLERY JLOVE277. WELL, GOOD LUCK IF YOU STILL WANT TO DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO I'LL TRY TO PUT UP A QUICK LINK TO MY SYSTEM.

Thanks guys for all the replys. Sorry it took me so long to get back here, I have been working non stop.

As far as wether to do the install or not, thats not really the question. I just wanted to know about the seat cutting down the bass.

I am not made of money but I do have enough to do what I am planning with the truck. I understand that it seems crazy to cut up a perfectly good truck but to me its just a truck.

I am buying parts of the system now and should be done with it all in a couple of months. I will post pics when Im done. Thanks guys
